Today’s post is sponsored by Paula’s Choice.Last month, I had my first facial and skincare analysis at the Garden of The Gods Club in Colorado Springs, and I learned so much about my skin and the types of products I should be using. For years, I’ve thought that I had oily, blemish-prone skin, so I chose skincare products filled with intense levels of acne-fighting ingredients and harsh exfoliating properties. My goal was to wage war on my blemishes and physically buff away uneven textures. This abrasive skincare routine left my skin red, irritated, and dry. As I’ve gotten older, it also caused my skin to wrinkle prematurely.
When I walked into the spa in Colorado, I explained to my facialist about the products that I’d been using. I quickly learned that I’d been doing everything wrong. After examining my skin, my facialist told me that I had sensitive skin that was normal to dry and moderately reactive. She recommended that I re-think my skincare routine and switch to products that were gentle and hydrating. I think that God might have been listening to my conversation with my facialist, because I received the amazing opportunity to try out Paula’s Choice skincare products only a few days later! After a skincare consultation over the phone, I decided to try out the Resist skincare collection from Paula’s Choice.
The Resist line is perfect for normal, oily, or combination skin, and it can be supplemented with additional moisturizers if you’re on the dryer end of the combination spectrum. I’ve been using this line religiously for nearly a month, and I’m very impressed with the results. My skin is visibly smoother, less irritated, and incredibly soft. Since I’ve had such great results with this system, I decided to share my daily skincare routine with you including my thoughts on each product in the collection.
Paula’s Choice RESIST Skincare Routine
Step 1: CleanserEvery morning and night I cleanse my face with Paula’s Choice Resist Perfectly Balanced Foaming Cleanser to remove excess oil, dirt, and any remaining makeup. This cleanser feels like a thick lotion, and it gently cleanses my skin without causing any irritation or redness. I think this product would work well for almost all skin types because it removes oil and dirt without stripping your skin’s natural moisture.
Step 2: TonerThe next step in my skincare routine is my favorite step: toning. I use a cotton pad to apply Paula’s Choice Resist Weightless Advanced Repairing Toner over my entire face and neck, and the toner works to build collagen, reduce redness from redness, and shrink enlarged pores. The toner is so refreshing in the morning and evening, and I have noticed that the pores in my T-zone seem to be slightly smaller.
Step 3: ExfoliantInstead of using abrasive physical exfoliants, I use Paula’s Choice Resist Daily Pore-Refining Treatment with 2% BHA each morning and night to smooth my skin and keep my pores free of debris. Once a week, I use Resist Weekly Retexturizing Foaming Treatment with 4% BHA, which contains a slightly higher dose of exfoliating BHA. I apply both products to my face and neck with a cotton pad after toning. While both products create a very slight tingling sensation, I don’t experience any unpleasant stinging or burning. As I’ve mentioned before, these products are very gentle and will not irritate your skin. While it’s hard to tell which product is causing results, I’ve noticed that my skin is noticeably smoother and has a more even texture than before. I really love these exfoliating products!
Step 4: SerumsAfter my skin is cleansed, toned, and exfoliated, it’s time to replenish my skin with good ingredients. I apply a nickel-sized drop of Paula’s Choice Resist Ultra-Light Super Antioxidant Concentrate Serum mixed with two to three drops of the Resist Hyaluronic Acid Booster over my face and neck to add moisture and antioxidants to my skin. In addition to providing your skin with valuable nutrients and moisture, these serums will prep your skin for moisturizer. Both serums sink into skin within seconds and leave my skin moisturized without a greasy feeling. If my skin is feeling extra dry, I’ll add a few more drops of the Hyaluronic Acid Booster into my serum or moisturizer.
Step 5: MoisturizeThe last step in my skincare routine is also the most important step. Whether your’re battling blemishes or wrinkles, your skin needs moisture; the older you get, the more moisturize your skin needs. I use the Paula’s Choice Resist Youth-Extending Daily Mattifying Fluid each morning after applying my serums, and it leaves my skin perfectly moisturized without feeling greasy. This moisturizer contains SPF 50, and it works well underneath all of my foundations AND doesn’t make my skin oily in the Florida heat and humidity! At night, I opt for a slightly heavier moisturizer, the Resist Anti-Aging Clear Skin Hydrator. Thanks to this gel-cream moisturizer, I wake up in the morning with silky soft skin. The finishing step in my morning and evening skincare routins is to pat a small amount of the Resist Anti-Aging Eye Cream around my eyes. This eye cream is very thick and emollient, so I like to let it sink into my skin for a few minutes before applying my concealer in the mornings.
I realize that this skincare routine might seem a little bit confusing. When I first received my regimen, I’ll admit that I was afraid that I’d forget the schedule for each product; however, Paula’s Choice was one step ahead of me. You’ll receive a set of free scheduling stickers with your first order along with detailed instructions about each product in your routine. I simply applied the correct sticker on the back of each bottle and arranged them next to my sink in the order of application. The routine is not as complicated as it seems, though, and I only needed to reference the stickers for the first day or two.
Yes, there are a lot of items; however, each step has a specific purpose in the regimen. I started seeing results within the first few days, so I was extremely motivated to keep up the routine to maintain my results. Now I can get through all five steps in under two minutes! The amazing results are definitely worth the extra effort.
So now that I’ve shared my entire skincare routine with you, I’m going to brag about Paula’s Choice a little bit more. In my experience, Paula’s Choice has incredible customer service. My phone consultation was extremely pleasant, and it really felt like they wanted me to find the perfect products for my skin. While they suggested different products, I didn’t feel pressured to go along with their suggestions. They were open to feedback and really just want to give you a great experience. In fact, all of their products feature a 60-day 100% money back guarantee! They also don’t test their products on animals, and their products are free of irritating dyes or fragrances.
While I highly recommend the Resist line, Paula’s Choice has a skin care line for everyone. Whether you’re battling acne, rosacea, wrinkles, or enlarged pores, I’m confident that you’ll be able to find an effective product at Paula’s Choice!
