Natural Holiday Makeup Tutorial
Today’s post is sponsored by Target.
Throughout the holiday season, it feels like I’m constantly running around at 100 miles per hour. Between work deadlines, everyday chores, family visits, and holiday shopping, it’s a miracle if I find the time to shower, let alone head to the salon to get dolled up before a Christmas party. When I’m in a rush but still want to look good for holiday-party pictures, I allocate five minutes toward amping up my everyday makeup. Whether I’m contouring at stoplights or applying lipstick right before I walk into the party, this five-minute routine makes a huge difference in how I look and feel!
Create a Subtle Contour
Contouring is one of this year’s hottest makeup trends. Subtle contouring can slim your face in seconds by enhancing the natural structure of your face. To create a sleek, contoured look in less than 30 seconds, you’ll need a matte, cool-toned bronzer or contour powder and a small powder brush. I’ve been loving the matte contour powder from the Pixi Natural Contour Kit, which contains bronzer, highlighter, and eye shadow in matte and shimmer finishes. This palette works well for quick makeup looks because it contains everything you need in one compact set.
I create a quick contour by sucking in my cheeks and applying the contour powder to the hollow that’s created. Try to concentrate the color toward your hairline and gradually fade the color as you move the brush closer to your mouth. Next, I mix the matte and shimmer bronzers in the palette on my brush and dust it around my hairline and underneath my jawline. Thirty seconds later, I miraculously have cheekbones and a sharper jawline! If I have a few seconds to spare, I’ll quickly apply NYC Color Wheel Mosaic Face Powder in Pale Blush to the apples of my cheeks and one of the highlighters from the Pixi Natural Contour Kit above my blush and down the bridge of my nose.
Add Dimension to Your Eyes
When I’m at work or running errands, I wear minimal eye makeup. When I’m headed to a party, I like to add extra drama to my eye look by adding an additional coat of deep eye shadow. For this eye look, I mixed matte tan and brown eye shadows and blended them into the crease of my eye. Then I used a small pencil brush to apply a deep brown eye shadow to the outer corners of my eyes and a shimmery ivory eye shadow to the inner corners of my eyes. These three steps take approximately one minute to complete, but the finished look will make your eyes look bigger and brighter.
If you decide to pick up the Pixi Natural Contour Kit, here’s a cheat sheet that shows the products I used in today’s makeup look.
Make Your Eyes Pop
Once your eyes are contoured, it’s time to add the finishing touch: eyeliner and mascara. I used the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Cocoa to darken my upper lashline and lower waterline, and I lengthened my lashes with two coats of my favorite CoverGirl LashBlast Super Sizer Mascara.
I fell in love with the Pixi eyeliners earlier this year, and I’ve slowly managed to collect almost every shade from the collection at Target. This season, Pixi released a quartette of mini eyeliners at Target featuring their most popular shades. Whether you’re looking for a fabulous eyeliner to finish your holiday makeup or the perfect Christmas gift for a beauty lover in your family, this gift set is a winner. The eyeliners glide on smoothly and stay in place throughout the day.
Add a Rosy Lip
Applying colorful lipstick is an easy way to brighten your complexion, but bold reds and deep berries aren’t a good idea for quick applications. When you’re creating a five-minute makeup look, opt for a nude or rosy lip. The Pixi Mattelustre Lipstick in Bitten Rose is a great lipstick for the holidays. The moisturizing formula keeps your lips hydrated in the dry winter weather, and the mid-toned rose color can be applied quickly without causing a makeup disaster. If you have a lipstick-loving friend or want to purchase an all-in-one lipstick wardrobe, pick up the Pixi Lipstick Taster Kit at Target. It contains mini versions of Bitten Rose and three other universally flattering lipstick shades.
