After a summer filled with beach days, sun tans, and strawberry daiquiris, it’s officially time to start thinking about packing up the bikinis and breaking out our fall wardrobe. While I’m excited for the beginning of Pumpkin Spice Lattes and sweater shopping, I don’t want to give up my summer beauty essentials! Thankfully, it’s easy to create a beautiful look suitable for summer and fall with a few easy steps. I recently went a little wild in the beauty section of Walgreens, so today I’m sharing my best makeup tips and a step-by-step makeup tutorial for my favorite summer to fall look!
The first step in this look is to even out your skin tone. Today I’m using one of my favorite summer foundations: the Neutrogena Healthy Skin liquid foundation. This foundation helps to conceal my discolorations, and the added SPF shields my skin from the sun’s harmful rays. Maybelline’s Fit Me concealer helps my undereye circles disappear, and Revlon‘s Nearly Naked powder creates a flawless satin finish.
My skin has a mind of its own and likes to break out at the most inconvenient times. Applying your foundation with a blush will help keep the bacteria on your hands off your face, which means less breakouts! Plus, it creates an airbrushed, smooth finish. To conceal your undereye circles and highlight the middle of your face, draw your conceal in a triangular shape underneath your eyes. It may cause you to look an alien for a few seconds, but Kim Kardashian’s makeup artist does it…so I do it!
Now that are face is flawless, let’s add a little color and dimension. The NYC Smooth Skin Bronzer in Sunny bronzer will help give your face a summer glow, but the matte finish is sophisticated enough for the colder months. To create the perfect rosy cheek, I like to apply Essence’s Silky Touch Blush in Adorable with the Studio 35 Angle Blush Brush! These are seriously three of my favorite face products, and they’re all under $5 each!
Contouring is a classic fall makeup look that will define your bone structure. It may seem like a fancy maneuver, but it’s really simple. Suck in your cheeks like you’re making a fish face, and use a small brush to apply a matte bronzer underneath your cheekbone. A little bit of conturing can even create the illusion that you’ve lost weight. Yep, it’s a miracle technique! Blend a matte rosy blush into the apples of your cheeks, and your face will look naturally beautiful.
Up to this point, this look is fairly summery and natural. To add a bit of fall drama, add deep neutral eyeshadows and black eyeliner and mascara. The dark colors will really make your eyes pop! To complete the look, I’m using three shades from Milani’s new eyeshadow range, and they rival eyeshadows that 10x more. Do yourself a favor and pick up a few shades next time you’re at Walgreens! As always, I’m using Jordana’s Best Lash Extreme mascara and Fabuliner liquid liner to complete the look.
Today’s eye look couldn’t be simpler. The first step in the look is to use a flat eyeshadow brush or your finger to apply a matte ivory eyeshadow (Milani Bella Ivory) to your entire eyelid up to your browbone. Next, use a fluffy crease brush to blend a shimmery bronze eyeshadow (Milani Bella Bronze) into the crease of your eye. Use a windshield wiper-like motion (left and right in a slight arc) to blend the deep shade and remove any harsh lines. To finish the look, use a shimmery champagne eyeshadow (Milani Bella Champagne) to highlight underneath your browbone and on the inner tearduct of your eye with a small, flat eyeshadow brush or your finger.
Now that your eyeshadow is blended to perfection, use a black felt-tip liquid eyeliner (Jordana Fabuliner) to draw a thin line along your lash line. Flick the eyeliner out at the end of the line to make your eyes appear bigger. Next, add two coats of black mascara (Jordana Best Lash Extreme) to amp up the drama!
The finishing touch of any makeup look is a fabulous mascara. This Essence lipstick in Dare to Be Nude is the perfect transitional shade from summer to fall. It’s a medium-toned nude that complements every skintone, and the formula is smooth, creamy, and glossy. I literally can’t believe this lipstick retails for under $3 at Walgreens!
And that’s it! This easy summer-to-fall makeup look works for day or night, and it takes less than 10 minutes to finish. If you decide to recreate this look, be sure to tag me in your pictures on social media! I’d love to see your take on the tutorial!
I always find the latest makeup releases at Walgreens. I couldn’t be more excited that my local Walgreens is now carrying the Essence line!
