Charlotte Tilbury Makeup Review: Is It Worth The Hype?

I vividly remember the first time I heard about Charlotte Tilbury makeup. One of my favorite YouTubers, Fleur de Force, was raving about the , and I was immediately intrigued. At the time, the products weren’t available in the U.S., so I sat and drooled over Charlotte Tilbury’s gorgeous makeup tutorials and celebrity looks on her YouTube channel. Thankfully, the line had its U.S. launch a few years later, and I’ve been slowly but surely collecting this gorgeous makeup collection ever since!
So let’s get straight to the point. Is Charlotte Tilbury makeup worth the hype? ABSOLUTELY. Every Charlotte Tilbury product that I’ve tried is beautiful, high-quality, and easy to use. It just makes applying your makeup a breeze, and you like yourself- just amplified. While I haven’t tried every single product in the range, I’ve tried quite a bit. Today I’m sharing an honest review of the best makeup from Charlotte Tilbury (of the products I’ve tried) as well as a cult-favorite skincare product!
* is the one product that’s always used in Charlotte Tilbury’s makeup tutorials. It’s a rich and luxurious moisturizer that gives your skin a heavenly glow and creates the perfect base for your foundation. I won’t lie. This stuff is not cheap, much like the entire Charlotte Tilbury makeup collection; however, heavy moisturizers in general aren’t cheap. Plus, it really does make your skin and makeup look phenomenal. If you’re looking for a pre-makeup moisturizer that will plump your skin, add a glow, and create a smooth base for your makeup, you won’t be disappointed in Charlotte’s Magic Cream.

If you’re looking for a quick and natural-looking product to enhance your skin, the Charlotte Tilbury Healthy Glow Moisturizer is pretty beautiful. It’s a moisturizer that adds a touch of a bronze glow to your skin along with a gorgeous glow. It’s a great product to use on no-makeup days because it gives you a touch of color and blurs your skin without adding coverage, and it’s also a fantastic product for men who aren’t interested in makeup but would like to add some color to their complexion! Check out the before and after pictures to get a better understanding of the results.
With that being said, it’s moisturizing, but nowhere near as emollient on your skin as Charlotte’s Magic Cream. If you’re looking for a lightweight moisturizer that will give your skin a sheer and slightly tan tint, this is the product for you. If you’re looking for a moisturizer that’s great for your skin AND a perfect base for your makeup, I’d recommend Charlotte’s Magic Cream.

Of all the Charlotte Tilbury products I’ve tried, I was honestly the least excited to test the Wonder Glow Instant Soft Focus Beauty Flash*. I live in Florida, so glowy primers aren’t usually my thing, but I could NOT have been more wrong about this product. In fact, it’s now one of my all-time favorite primers, and I’ve used it every single day I’ve worn makeup for the past few weeks.
I simply apply a few dots of this luminous primer across my face before applying my foundation and setting powder, and my complexion is instantly brightened without becoming shiny. It’s a glow without the sweaty look, and I’m obsessed. Plus, you can also wear it on top of your moisturizer on no-makeup days to get a glow that’s worthy of J-Lo.

Charlotte’s Hollywood Flawless Filter is a genuinely unique product. It can be used as a primer underneath your makeup, mixed in with your moisturizer to give your skin a glow on no-makeup days, mixed in with your foundation to blur your skin and add in a glow, or on top of your makeup as a glowy highlight.
No matter how you use it, you’ll consistently get an added glow and filter on your skin. Charlotte has a video showing how to apply it . While the product is extremely sheer, it’s available in 7 shades to suit a variety of skin tones.

The is PHENOMENAL. It is extremely full coverage and gives the most flawless velvet finish. It truly does make your skin look airbrush and covers everything you need to cover without having to use a large amount of product. In addition to the great formula, it has one of the best shade ranges on the market. Available in 44 shades, you’ll almost certainly be able to find your perfect match!

While I think the Magic Away Liquid Concealer from Charlotte Tilbury is a nice concealer for your face, it’s not my favorite for under the eyes. It’s a full coverage concealer, but not quite as full coverage or as easy to blend as my favorite Tarte Shape Tape. With that being said, I love that this concealer comes in 20 shades. Overall, I certainly don’t think it’s pretty good, but I wouldn’t run out and buy it again. It’s just not my favorite and didn’t blow me away like all of the other Charlotte Tilbury products I own.
Now here is a product you’re guaranteed to love. The Airbrush Flawless Finish Powder* is ridiculously good, and you don’t have to take my word for it. EVERYONE in the beauty industry raves about it, and after trying it for myself, I now understand why. It’s incredibly finely-milled, super soft and smooth, and honestly creates a flawless finish. I use this powder underneath my eyes and across my face, and I’m blown away every time I use it. If you’re looking for a powder that will truly live up to its claims, definitely check out this phenomenal setting powder!

Charlotte’s Genius Magic Powder is a nearly completely sheer setting powder for setting your makeup and keeping it in place. It has a nice finish, and the packaging is really good for a setting powder. With that being said, I much prefer the pressed powder mentioned above over this setting powder because it has a bit more coverage. That’s just my personal preference!

The formula of this blush is smooth, buildable, and not too crazy pigmented, so you’ll never end up looking like a clown. Like the powder I just mentioned, I’ve literally never heard anything but rave reviews about this product, and it’s for good reason. It’s easy to use and makes your cheeks look angelic! My #1 recommendation would be the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk blush, and I also love the shade Ecstasy. See all of the shades in the collection here.

One of Charlotte Tilbury’s most famous products is the Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour Duo*. After trying it myself, I can understand why. The bronzer/contour shade blends like a dream and gives a subtle contoured look without looking unnatural. The highlighter gives a creamy glow without being over-the-top blinding, and it’s absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a way to add structure to your face but don’t want a high-maintenance product, this palette is for you. Comes in two varieties – one for light to medium skin tones and another for medium to deep skin tones.

Airbrush Bronzer Review
I recently bought the new Charlotte Tilbury airbrush bronzer, and oh my goodness, it is so good! If you’re looking for an extremely dramatic bronzer, this product may not be for you. But if you’re looking for a natural bronzer that gives you a sun-kissed appearance without harsh lines and blends like a dream, this one is right up your alley!
My skin tends to fall in the light range, and the is perfect for me at the moment. With that being said, I think I could also use the next shade up with a light hand right now. This product comes in four shades, and you can see swatches of each shade on fair to deep complexions here. This product gives me the exact effect I want from bronzer – a natural and seamlessly blended tan.

is a liquid contour shade in an easy-to-use tube with a sponge applicator. If you’re someone who wants to contour your face but need something user-friendly, this product is for you! It comes in 2 shades, and you can easily layer it to create a very natural to very intense contour look. I prefer to apply it over my foundation but under any setting powder, and I use a makeup blending sponge to blend it into my skin.
This product is FANTASTIC, and I haven’t found a liquid or cream bronzer that’s easier to use than this one. Works like a charm!

Another beauty cult favorite is the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner in Pillow Talk. Literally everyone raves about this lip liner because it’s the perfect “your lips but better” shade that allows you to overline your lips to create the illusion of plumper lips. I bought the Pillow Talk lip liner last year, and it’s been a staple in my daily makeup routine ever since.
Since then, I’ve added Supersize Me, Hot Gossip*, and Iconic Nude* to my lip liner collection, and they are all incredible colors that I use all the time. The lip liners are long-lasting and easy to apply, and the colors are just so wearable. Definitely an item to check out!

Charlotte Tilbury clearly excels at making amazing lip products because her lipsticks are incredible. I wanted to mention her Matte Revolution Luminous Modern-Matte Lipsticks (10 shades available + 7 additional colors here) first because I really think they’re some of the best on the market. They feature the most beautiful rose gold packaging and have a formula that isn’t drying at all. I own four shades of this lipstick formula overall and absolutely love them all. The colors are so wearable, and the formula is just perfect! This is the shade Pillow Talk, which is the PERFECT pinky-nude shade.
You can also buy Pillow Talk in medium and intense versions to suit your skin tone and personal preference. In the photo above, Pillow Talk is on the left and Pillow Talk medium is on the right. Pillow Talk is a wearable peachy pink nude, and Pillow Talk Medium is a mid-tone brownish pink nude. They’re both extremely beautiful and flattering. Here’s an up-close look at two of my favorite shades. On the left is The Queen. You can see what it looks like in this outfit post. It’s one of my all-time favorite shades and gorgeous wearable magenta pink. On the right is the shade I used in my Instagram post and the before and after picture at the beginning of the post, Amazing Grace*. It’s a beautiful slightly coral pink that brightens up your complexion.

If matte lipsticks aren’t your jam, the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick (10 shades + 2 additional colors here) might be right up your alley. This lipstick has a moisturizing formula and leaves a glossy finish, and the colors in the line are so gorgeous. I purchased a mini kit featuring three of these lipsticks and have loved using them! The formula is extremely comfortable, and all of the shades are very wearable. This red, So Marilyn, is one of my favorites for the holiday season. While the mini kits are currently sold, I’d absolutely repurchase the full-size version when I run out of these shades.
My favorite Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick is Bitch Perfect, which is a pinky-nude shade with a cult following. LOVE this shade!

After I saw Charlotte Tilbury use her Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow in a Youtube tutorial, I knew I had to buy the shade Marie Antoinette. The formula is creamy and blends like a dream. You can wear it on its own or use it underneath your eye shadow, and honestly, both uses look phenomenal. This is BY FAR my favorite cream eyeshadow in my entire makeup collection, and I’m definitely looking into purchasing more in the coming year.

Charlotte Tilbury’s Color Chameleon Color Morphing Eyeshadow Pencils* (available in 8 colors) are a gorgeous product to use as an eyeshadow base, easy eyeshadow look, or to line or accent your eyes. I own the shades Amber Haze and Champagne Diamonds, and they’re both extremely pretty. I don’t use eyeshadow pencils that frequently, but when I do, I reach for this formula. If you’re into easy looks or really like to smoke out your waterline, this product would be a great fit for you.
I like using Champagne Diamonds all over the eye or to highlight my inner eye corner and underneath my brow bone, but I will warn you, it does have very small pieces of glitter. It has never irritated my eye at all, but I know some people just aren’t a fan of wearing glitter! Out of the two shades I own, this one is my favorite.

I’ve heard mixed reviews about these palettes, but here’s my opinion. The Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Colour-Coded Eyeshadow Palettes* are basically fool-proof. All of the quads (available in 8 color combinations) are easy to use and feature colors that are complimentary. The formula blends like a dream and never looks overpowering. The colors are long-lasting and flattering, and they just make your eyes look pretty in no time.
They pack the perfect amount of color, so you’re never going to grab too much and have a crazy-intense look. They’re wearable and buildable, so you can apply a sheer coat for a wash of color or layer the shade to get more intensity. If you’re in the market for an easy-to-wear everyday eyeshadow palette that can be worn during the day or at night, I think you’re going to LOVE the Dolce Vita and Golden Goddess (broken palette in the photo) palettes!

This week, I got the Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Eyeshadow Palette in the mail. I actually got it as a free gift with purchase (the Charlotte Tilbury website has seriously good deals sometimes!), and all I can say is WOW. The formula is different than the four-pan shadows I reviewed above. These shadows are more pigmented and more intense, but they’re still very easy to blend! I wouldn’t say one formula is necessarily better than the other, but the palettes do give off a different effect. This palette definitely has a bolder effect due to the increased pigment, but the shades can still be sheered out to give a natural look.
This eyeshadow palette has a pink, copper, and mauve notes, and it really makes your eyes pop. I like to start by layering the matte shades from lightest to deepest and then adding one or two of the shimmery shades for a pop of color and shine. I’ve worn this palette for several days in a row, and I’m truly impressed. The shadows have little to no fallout, and the colors are pigmented and easy to blend. If you like these colors, I think this palette is a great investment and will last you a LONG time due to the high pigment levels. I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a liquid eyeliner snob. I am very picky about the shape of my liquid eyeliners, and Charlotte Tilbury got it just right with her The Feline Flick Quick Fine Line Shodo Pen*. The shape and density of the eyeliner make it easy to create the perfect cat eye wing.
The formula is rich, black, and applies without pulling at your eyelid. I personally love it and will absolutely use this entire tube!

A few years back, Charlotte Tilbury created her Legendary Lashes mascara* which shook up the beauty scene. It has an incredibly volumizing formula that layers to plump up your lashes far more than any other mascara that I own. If you love false-looking, super-thick, and slightly clumpy lashes like me, Legendary Lashes is gonna be your new favorite.
With that being said, the original Legendary Lashes mascara tended to smudge on some people because of the buildable and waxy formula. I honestly never had that issue, but I can understand why it bugged some people. Thankfully, Charlotte has released to remedy that issue, and IT IS AWESOME.
So here’s the deal, if you like fluffy, light, and natural-looking lashes, you are not going to like this mascara; however, if you are like me and prefer your lashes to be as big and dramatic as possible, you are going to start hoarding . One coat will give you more volume than 5 coats of most mascaras on the market. Seriously. It packs a LOT of product on the brush, so be prepared for some drama!
If you want the volume without the slightly clumpy look (which I love), you can use a finer-toothed mascara wand like this one (super affordable) after wards to brush out any clumps. If you want a slightly less dramatic look that’s still voluminous and defined, is a great pick. It’s a fabulous mascara, but I just prefer an extra-dramatic lash.

I honestly have not been disappointed by any Charlotte Tilbury products, so I genuinely believe these formulas are worth the money. They make applying your makeup and creating a glamorous look so easy, and all of the shades are specifically designed to be flattering on EVERY skin tone.
With that being said, these products aren’t cheap, so you’re not going to want to replace your entire makeup kit in one purchase. My top five Charlotte Tilbury favorites are definitely ,, this lip liner (in either Pillow Talk or Supersize Me), Pillow Talk lipstick, and the Pillow Talk blush. But I’m telling you, it’s hard to go wrong with this line.

Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour Duo Review
One of Charlotte Tilbury’s most famous products is the Filmstar Bronze & Glow Contour Duo*. After trying it myself, I can understand why. The bronzer/contour shade blends like a dream and gives a subtle contoured look without looking unnatural. The highlighter gives a creamy glow without being over-the-top blinding, and it’s absolutely beautiful. If you’re looking for a way to add structure to your face but don’t want a high-maintenance product, this palette is for you. Comes in two varieties – one for light to medium skin tones and another for medium to deep skin tones.

Airbrush Bronzer Review
I recently bought the new Charlotte Tilbury airbrush bronzer, and oh my goodness, it is so good! If you’re looking for an extremely dramatic bronzer, this product may not be for you. But if you’re looking for a natural bronzer that gives you a sun-kissed appearance without harsh lines and blends like a dream, this one is right up your alley! My skin tends to fall in the light range, and the is perfect for me at the moment. With that being said, I think I could also use the next shade up with a light hand right now. This product comes in four shades, and you can see swatches of each shade on fair to deep complexions here. This product gives me the exact effect I want from bronzer – a natural and seamlessly blended tan.

Hollywood Contour Wand Review
is a liquid contour shade in an easy-to-use tube with a sponge applicator. If you’re someone who wants to contour your face but need something user-friendly, this product is for you! It comes in 2 shades, and you can easily layer it to create a very natural to very intense contour look. I prefer to apply it over my foundation but under any setting powder, and I use a makeup blending sponge to blend it into my skin. This product is FANTASTIC, and I haven’t found a liquid or cream bronzer that’s easier to use than this one. Works like a charm!

Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner Review
Another beauty cult favorite is the Charlotte Tilbury Lip Cheat Re-Size & Re-Shape Lip Liner in Pillow Talk. Literally everyone raves about this lip liner because it’s the perfect “your lips but better” shade that allows you to overline your lips to create the illusion of plumper lips. I bought the Pillow Talk lip liner last year, and it’s been a staple in my daily makeup routine ever since.
Since then, I’ve added Supersize Me, Hot Gossip*, and Iconic Nude* to my lip liner collection, and they are all incredible colors that I use all the time. The lip liners are long-lasting and easy to apply, and the colors are just so wearable. Definitely an item to check out!

Pillow Talk is a wearable peachy pink nude, and Pillow Talk Medium is a mid-tone brownish pink nude. They’re both extremely beautiful and flattering. K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick Review
If matte lipsticks aren’t your jam, the Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick (10 shades + 2 additional colors here) might be right up your alley. This lipstick has a moisturizing formula and leaves a glossy finish, and the colors in the line are so gorgeous. I purchased a mini kit featuring three of these lipsticks and have loved using them! The formula is extremely comfortable, and all of the shades are very wearable. This red, So Marilyn, is one of my favorites for the holiday season. While the mini kits are currently sold, I’d absolutely repurchase the full-size version when I run out of these shades. My favorite Charlotte Tilbury K.I.S.S.I.N.G Lipstick is Bitch Perfect, which is a pinky-nude shade with a cult following. LOVE this shade!

Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow Review
After I saw Charlotte Tilbury use her Eyes to Mesmerise Cream Eyeshadow in a Youtube tutorial, I knew I had to buy the shade Marie Antoinette. The formula is creamy and blends like a dream. You can wear it on its own or use it underneath your eye shadow, and honestly, both uses look phenomenal. This is BY FAR my favorite cream eyeshadow in my entire makeup collection, and I’m definitely looking into purchasing more in the coming year.

Color Chameleon Color Morphing Eyeshadow Pencil Review
Charlotte Tilbury’s Color Chameleon Color Morphing Eyeshadow Pencils* (available in 8 colors) are a gorgeous product to use as an eyeshadow base, easy eyeshadow look, or to line or accent your eyes. I own the shades Amber Haze and Champagne Diamonds, and they’re both extremely pretty. I don’t use eyeshadow pencils that frequently, but when I do, I reach for this formula. If you’re into easy looks or really like to smoke out your waterline, this product would be a great fit for you.
I like using Champagne Diamonds all over the eye or to highlight my inner eye corner and underneath my brow bone, but I will warn you, it does have very small pieces of glitter. It has never irritated my eye at all, but I know some people just aren’t a fan of wearing glitter! Out of the two shades I own, this one is my favorite.

Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Eyeshadow Palette Review
I’ve heard mixed reviews about these palettes, but here’s my opinion. The Charlotte Tilbury Luxury Colour-Coded Eyeshadow Palettes* are basically fool-proof. All of the quads (available in 8 color combinations) are easy to use and feature colors that are complimentary. The formula blends like a dream and never looks overpowering. The colors are long-lasting and flattering, and they just make your eyes look pretty in no time.
They pack the perfect amount of color, so you’re never going to grab too much and have a crazy-intense look. They’re wearable and buildable, so you can apply a sheer coat for a wash of color or layer the shade to get more intensity. If you’re in the market for an easy-to-wear everyday eyeshadow palette that can be worn during the day or at night, I think you’re going to LOVE the Dolce Vita and Golden Goddess (broken palette in the photo) palettes!

Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Eyeshadow Palette Review
This week, I got the Charlotte Tilbury Charlotte Darling Eyeshadow Palette in the mail. I actually got it as a free gift with purchase (the Charlotte Tilbury website has seriously good deals sometimes!), and all I can say is WOW. The formula is different than the four-pan shadows I reviewed above. These shadows are more pigmented and more intense, but they’re still very easy to blend! I wouldn’t say one formula is necessarily better than the other, but the palettes do give off a different effect. This palette definitely has a bolder effect due to the increased pigment, but the shades can still be sheered out to give a natural look.This eyeshadow palette has a pink, copper, and mauve notes, and it really makes your eyes pop. I like to start by layering the matte shades from lightest to deepest and then adding one or two of the shimmery shades for a pop of color and shine. I’ve worn this palette for several days in a row, and I’m truly impressed. The shadows have little to no fallout, and the colors are pigmented and easy to blend. If you like these colors, I think this palette is a great investment and will last you a LONG time due to the high pigment levels. The Feline Flick Liquid Eyeliner Pen Review
I’ll admit that I’m a bit of a liquid eyeliner snob. I am very picky about the shape of my liquid eyeliners, and Charlotte Tilbury got it just right with her The Feline Flick Quick Fine Line Shodo Pen*. The shape and density of the eyeliner make it easy to create the perfect cat eye wing. The formula is rich, black, and applies without pulling at your eyelid. I personally love it and will absolutely use this entire tube!

Charlotte Tilbury Legendary Lashes Volume 2 Mascara Review
A few years back, Charlotte Tilbury created her Legendary Lashes mascara* which shook up the beauty scene. It has an incredibly volumizing formula that layers to plump up your lashes far more than any other mascara that I own. If you love false-looking, super-thick, and slightly clumpy lashes like me, Legendary Lashes is gonna be your new favorite. With that being said, the original Legendary Lashes mascara tended to smudge on some people because of the buildable and waxy formula. I honestly never had that issue, but I can understand why it bugged some people. Thankfully, Charlotte has released to remedy that issue, and IT IS AWESOME.
So here’s the deal, if you like fluffy, light, and natural-looking lashes, you are not going to like this mascara; however, if you are like me and prefer your lashes to be as big and dramatic as possible, you are going to start hoarding . One coat will give you more volume than 5 coats of most mascaras on the market. Seriously. It packs a LOT of product on the brush, so be prepared for some drama!
If you want the volume without the slightly clumpy look (which I love), you can use a finer-toothed mascara wand like this one (super affordable) after wards to brush out any clumps. If you want a slightly less dramatic look that’s still voluminous and defined, is a great pick. It’s a fabulous mascara, but I just prefer an extra-dramatic lash.

So which Charlotte Tilbury makeup products should I buy first?
I honestly have not been disappointed by any Charlotte Tilbury products, so I genuinely believe these formulas are worth the money. They make applying your makeup and creating a glamorous look so easy, and all of the shades are specifically designed to be flattering on EVERY skin tone.
With that being said, these products aren’t cheap, so you’re not going to want to replace your entire makeup kit in one purchase. My top five Charlotte Tilbury favorites are definitely ,, this lip liner (in either Pillow Talk or Supersize Me), Pillow Talk lipstick, and the Pillow Talk blush. But I’m telling you, it’s hard to go wrong with this line.
