Cool for The Summer
Today’s post is sponsored by Hair Cuttery.
As much as I complain about the heat and humidity, I’ll always be a summer girl. I love the brilliant sunshine, the gorgeous blue skies, and the colorful summer blooms. I love pool days, beach days, backyard BBQs, and running around with sparklers on the 4th of July. I have so much fun during the carefree summer months, and I look like a sweaty, bright red beet for every minute of the season.
Ok, I might be exaggerating a little bit, but in all honesty, my style tends to go out the window during the summer. When you’re spending a day in 100+ degree heat and nearly 100% humidity, function always trumps fashion. I live in breezy sundresses, and I ditch the heavy makeup and stacks of jewelry. I say bye bye to fancy hair dos and hello to waterproof mascara. My main goal is to avoid melting.
Despite my dramatics about the summer climate, I do try to look cute when I’m out and about on summer days. Getting dressed during the summer isn’t impossible, but it does take a little bit of preparation. I have a killer makeup routine that lasts all day in the heat (tutorial coming soon), and I fill my summer closet with light and airy sundresses and stylish sandals in every shape and color.
This weekend, I picked up this adorable off-the-shoulder sundress, and its lightweight material couldn’t be more perfect for the high temperatures of the season. It’s the perfect little number for date nights or dinners with friends. It also matches perfectly with my new and surprisingly lightweight cognac lace-up sandals. This outfit was the perfect style combination for this weekend’s date night, and I even went the extra mile to get my hair done for our night on the town!
While I’m not the worst at styling my hair, I just don’t really like doing it. I love playing with makeup and choosing outfits, but blowdrying my hair is the worst. This weekend, I saved myself the hassle of washing and styling my hair and headed to Hair Cuttery. I had such a great experience when I got my hair cut at Hair Cuttery in April, so I was excited to try out their styling services.
My stylist Shelley was sweet as can be, and she expertly volumized and curled my hair to perfection while I finished up some work with the salon’s complimentary wi-fi. In less than an hour, my hair went from flat and greasy strands to light and bouncy curls, and guess what? My curls survived the summer heat that night, and my hair still looked great the next day! I’ve been let down by countless blow-dry bars before, but I was seriously impressed with my stylist’s work at Hair Cuttery.
