Easy Second-Day Hairstyles

When my hair is freshly washed and styled, I feel like I can conquer the world. There’s something about clean, bouncy, and voluminous hair that gives me an extra boost of confidence. The problem is that I only wash my hair three times a week, which means that my hair is not clean, bouncy, or voluminous for the majority of the week. In fact, my hair goal on non-shampoo days is to see how cleverly I can camouflage my dirty hair. My go-to look is a messy topknot, but this year I’m determined to master a few second-day hairstyles with a more polished look. Today I’m sharing two of my favorite hairstyles for second-day (or third-day) hair that are incredibly quick and easy. With a little bit of dry shampoo, teasing, and carefully-placed bobby pins, I guarantee that no one will notice that your hair isn’t clean!
Twisted Low Ponytail Hair Tutorial
This twisted low ponytail is perfect for second-day hair. The key to accomplishing this look is the right amount of dry shampoo and teasing. Dry shampoo should really just be called “pretend your hair is clean spray.” With a few carefully placed spritzes at the roots of your hair, dry shampoo will absorb excess oil and add an extra bit of volume. I like to use dry shampoos with a somewhat powdery texture, like the Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo, so the spray will reduce grease without weighing down my hair. Make sure that you spray the product at least 8-12 inches away from your roots to prevent applying too much product and allow the spray to dry completely before rubbing it into your hair and scalp. After applying dry shampoo, it’s time to get styling.
Elegant Low Chignon Hair Tutorial
This elegant low chignon is perfect for work days when you don’t have time to wash your hair. It’s can easily transform greasy second or third-day hair into a sleek look appropriate for any event. It only has a few basic steps, but your friends will be impressed with your hair styling skills. Don’t forget to apply dry shampoo before starting this hairstyle to revive your hair and reduce oil. The spray will also add texture to your hair that will keep this look in place all day long!
After conquering these hairstyles, I think you’ll agree that washing your hair every day is overrated. Lackluster second or third-day hair can easily be transformed into a stylish look with a little bit of ingenuity, dry shampoo, and a bobby pin or two. I’ve been using the Dove Refresh+Care Dry Shampoo for a few years, and I’m constantly impressed with its ability to revive my hair and leave it volumized and freshly-scented. Anything that helps me spend less time washing my hair and more time sleeping gets an A++ in my book.
If you’re looking for an easy way to hide your dirty second-day hair, try out both of these hairstyles and pick up a bottle of dry shampoo. I just bought a three-pack of Dove Refresh + Care Dry Shampoo at Sam’s Club for less than $10, and it’s worth every penny.
