MAC Shadescents Collection

A full review of the MAC Shadescents collection featuring six of MAC's iconic lipstick shades (Ruby Woo, Candy Yum Yum, Lady Danger, Velvet Teddy, Heroine, and Creme D'Nude) and coordinating perfumes for each shade by Florida beauty blogger Ashley Brooke Nicholas.Last week, I had a giant mystery box show up on my doorstep. It was in a strange rectangular box, so I assumed that my husband had ordered some sort of weird camping equipment. Much to my surprise, the label had my name on it, so I carefully opened ripped the package to shreds to see what was inside. The mystery box contained the entire (available at and ), and I spent the next ten minutes dancing around my house and spritzing perfume.

MAC Shadescents Lipsticks and Perfumes

MAC Candy Yum Yum

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Candy Yum Yum perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasI still remember the first time I saw swatched on YouTube. This gorgeous matte neon pink lipstick called out to me, but it was sold out everywhere. Now that I finally have a tube of my own, I can say that it absolutely lives up to the hype. It’s the brightest pink lipstick on the block, and the matte formula keeps the neon color on your lips for hours.

MAC debuted Candy Yum in gorgeous new packaging that has a matching neon pink lid and tube, so you can easily spot this fun shade in your lipstick collection. The new packaging is available at and , and they both have incredible holiday sales right now. If you shop through , you’ll get free shipping, gift wrapping, and samples with your order. Macy’s is offering free shipping and with the code .

Yes, that’s right. You can now smell like Candy Yum Yum. It’s a makeup lover’s dream come true. The is a fruity-floral gourmand fragrance with notes of tropical fruit, pink cotton candy, cherry blossom, Moroccan iris, pink guava, and vanilla. This perfume is my favorite scent from the collection, and it’s what I like to call a sophisticated girly perfume. The scent is not too floral, not too fruity, and not too sweet. The Candy Yum Yum perfume is like a grown-up version of your favorite Bath & Body Works or Victoria’s Secret body spray, and it’s earned a permanent spot in my small collection of perfumes.

MAC Ruby Woo

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Ruby Woo perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasAnd then we have their famous red, Ruby Woo.is is an extremely matte, bright red lipstick with blue undertones. It’s a classic old-school Hollywood red and a perfect choice for holiday parties or glamorous events. While I love the shade of this lipstick, I have to admit that Ruby Woo’s formula isn’t the easiest to apply or the most comfortable to wear. The formula is very dry, and you have to apply this lipstick very carefully to get an even coat. It’s also rather drying on your lips.

With that being said, this lipstick is a bestseller for a reason. Ruby Woo is such a glamorous red shade, and it will not move once it’s on your lips. You will literally have to scrub this shade off of your lips, so it is a great choice for long evenings where you need your lipstick to stay in place. If you don’t mind putting in a little bit of work to get a killer red lip, Ruby Woo is for you!

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Ruby Woo perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasThe coordinatingis a woody floral fragrance containing notes of red leather, wild cherry, saffron, pink pepper, suede violet, Orris Florentine, Centifolia rose, sandalwood, and mahogany wood. It’s very bold, very mysterious, and very sexy. If you love the smell of men’s cologne, you’ll gravitate towards this scent. The mahogany wood and leather notes make you feel like you’re wearing your boyfriend’s cologne, but the cherry and floral notes give it a slight touch of sweetness. While this scent is a little bit too strong for me to wear everyday, I would love for my home to smell like Ruby Woo perfume. MAC, if you’re listening, please make this scent in a candle or room spray!

MAC Creme D’Nude

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Creme D'Nude perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke Nicholaswas one of my very first MAC purchases back in the days when everyone only wore the nudest of nude lipsticks. It’s a very pale, muted peach beige in MAC’s glossy and slightly sheer Cremesheen formula. It’s a very light nude, so it can give you the “dead lips” look if you apply it straight out of the tube. I like layering it over a deeper nude lip liner or lipstick or using it highlight the center of my lips. In my opinion, Creme D’Nude is an accessory lipstick. Meaning I never really wear it only its own; I always layer/mix it with other colors to create a multi-dimensional look.

It’s an amber musk fragrance with notes of ambrette seeds, neroli, velvet musk, and Madagascar vanilla bean. It’s a soft and warm fragrance that has the perfect amount of vanilla sweetness without being juvenile or sickly sweet. It’s absolutely delicious and extremely sophisticated.

MAC Lady Danger

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Lady Danger perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasIf you’re looking for a statement lip,is gonna be your jam. It’s a matte and extremely vivid coral red lipstick that’s nearly neon, and it applies like a dream. It’s an iconic summer shade, and it looks so beautiful on all skin tones. Lady Danger may not be for the faint of heart, but it’s guaranteed to draw all of the attention to your lips!

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Lady Danger perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke Nicholas A full review of the MAC Shadescents Lady Danger perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasThe coordinating MAC Shadescentsis a woody floriental that mixes notes of golden patchouli, saffron, tangerine, tiger orchid, jasmine, and black amber. It’s spicy, daring, and extremely unique. If you’re looking for an exotic perfume with just a dash of sweetness, take a sniff of Lady Danger during your next trip to MAC or Macy’s.

MAC Velvet Teddy

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Velvet Teddy perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasMAC Velvet Teddy lipstick has a huge fan base. It’s a matte, mid-toned nude with a base of deep beige, and it’s an iconic Kylie Jenner lipstick color. I like to mix Velvet Teddy with a pink-toned nude lipliner and a dash of lighter gloss or pale nude lipstick in the center to make it more flattering on my particular skin tone, but it’s beautiful straight out of the tube as well. This lipstick shade is ultra-trendy at the moment, and I think it would be flattering on almost all skin tones.

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Velvet Teddy perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasA full review of the MAC Shadescents Velvet Teddy perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasThe matching MAC Velvet Teddy perfume is an oriental amber scent with notes of wild honey, creamy musk, bright bergamot, ginger zest, tobacco flower, golden mimosa, vanilla orchid, papyrus root, and tonka bean. I’ve never smelled anything quite like it, but it’s a very bold and spicy scent. If you’re a fan of strong oriental fragrances with a dask of amber, you’ll probably love Velvet Teddy.

MAC Heroine

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Heroine perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasAnd finally, we have MAC’s Heroine lipstick. It’s a bright purple matte lipstick that definitely packs a punch. If you have a deeper skin tone or really love bold lipsticks, you’ll want to check out this lipstick. I like wearing a sheer layer of Heroine on my lips to create a light berry stain, but I honestly think this color would look so, so beautiful on deeper skin tones!

A full review of the MAC Shadescents Heroine perfume and lipstick by Orlando, Florida, beauty blogger Ashley Brooke NicholasThe matching MAC Shadescents My Heroine perfume is a woody leather fragrance that mixes notes of Cordovan leather, saffron, labdanum, smoky incense, patchouli, and tobacco to create a very deep and mysterious scent. This perfume has a decidedly unisex quality to it, and it smells like a mixture of a cedar sauna, rich leather, and burning incense. You’ll like Heroine if you prefer boyfriend scents with deep undertones. Again, it’s too strong for my fragrance preferences, but I think some of you are going to love this scent.

As always, the winners of this collection are the lipsticks. MAC lipsticks never disappoint. They consistently have a great formula, and the iconic vanilla scent is just heavenly. Candy Yum Yum has to be my favorite just because it’s so fun, but Lady Danger, Velvet Teddy, and Ruby Woo (high-maintenance but ultra long-lasting) are my other top picks!

A full review of the MAC Shadescents collection featuring six of MAC's iconic lipstick shades (Ruby Woo, Candy Yum Yum, Lady Danger, Velvet Teddy, Heroine, and Creme D'Nude) and coordinating perfumes for each shade by Florida beauty blogger Ashley Brooke Nicholas.I think MAC has done a fabulous job with the coordinating fragrances as well. All six perfumes are extremely unique and unlike most scents on the market. It’s a decidedly grown-up line of sophisticated perfumes, and the packaging is killer! Again, Candy Yum Yum takes the cake, but Creme D’Nude comes in a very close second. The other scents are a bit too strong for my fragrance preferences, but I’d love to own a candle in any of these scents. MAC, you heard it from me first. You need to branch into home fragrance!

This collection is currently available at MAC and Macy’s, and both websites have incredible offers going on right now. If you shop through , you’ll get free shipping, gift wrapping, and samples with your order. Macy’s is offering free shipping and with the code . Let me know if you pick up anything from the MAC Shadescents line!

Which of MAC’s Shadescents colors do you identify with most? I’m definitely Candy Yum Yum, but I’d love to hear your favorite color/scent combo in the comments below.
