Beauty Talk: Laura Geller Beauty
I recently got the chance to meet Laura Geller, and have to say that the event was one of the highlights of my blogging journey so far. Laura was everything I hoped for a more. She’s kind, humble, energetic, intelligent, and incredibly funny, and it was so much fun to hear her story and meet some of the Laura Geller team in person. She’s someone who’s truly passionate about her brand but even more passionate about people. While I’ve been a fan of Laura Geller Beauty for years, knowing the gracious team behind the makeup makes me love the brand even more! In addition to being a company filled with absolutely amazing people, Laura Geller Beauty also makes some pretty fabulous makeup. I recently received a few Laura Geller makeup items to try out, and today I’m sharing a few of the stand-outs from the line!
The first Laura Geller product I ever tried was the original Spackle makeup primer. About seven years ago, I received a sample of the primer with my Sephora order, and I tried it out on a whim. I’d never used a primer before, and I was shocked at how good my foundation looked that day. I was even more shocked that my foundation stayed on in the 95 degree Florida summer weather. I distinctively remember scraping every last drop of the primer out of the sample pot and immediately placing an order for a full-size container as soon as I ran out. The Spackle primer is now available in 11 varieties at Ulta, so there’s a version for every skin type and makeup need. I am really impressed with the Laura Geller Spackle Treatment Even Tone Makeup Primer. It has a sheer peachy-pink tone that helps to even out your skin tone, and the moisturizing cream has a slight grip that allows your foundation to cling to your skin all day long. It works well underneath both powder and liquid foundations and a tiny bit goes a long way.
A new favorite from the line is the Laura Geller Double Take Baked Versatile Powder Foundation (available in 9 colors at Ulta). When I first saw this product, I thought it looked like a normal powder foundation, but I was so wrong. This powder has an incredibly smooth texture that applies like a dream. You can use a large fluffy brush to get light coverage or set your foundation without a powdery finish, or you can use the included sponge to get a full-coverage finish that’s matte without being too flat. The crazy thing is, it doesn’t look like you’re wearing powder foundation. I normally use a makeup setting spray to remove the powdery finish from my makeup, but I’m not tempted to break out my when I use this foundation.
I currently have the shade Medium, which is just a touch too dark right now, but it will be the perfect shade once I get my summer tan. If you want a high-coverage finish with a touch of luminosity, you can use the white side of the included sponge when it’s slightly damp. Even though this powder looks completely matte in the packaging, it becomes a satin finish when applied wet! Seriously, run to and get color-matched in this powder. It comes in nine shades, so there’s a color match for almost everyone. It’s a summer must-have layered over the! I also tried out the Laura Geller Baked Radiance Cream Concealer (available in 6 shades), and it’s a good concealer for concealing blemishes or discoloration on your face. It has a very thick, sticky texture, so you’ll want to warm up the product with your fingers before applying.
Ok, now here’s the part of the post where I OBSESS over face products. The Laura Geller Baked Gelato Swirl Illuminator in Gilded Honey (available in 3 other shades) is literally heaven in a compact. It’s like they melted gold, added a few unicorn tears, and sprinkled in a bit of pixie dust to create the most magical glow in the world. I have to admit that I was slightly intimidated by this product when I saw my favorite YouTubers obsessing over it. I thought that the formula might be too intense for a natural makeup look, and I also thought the golden shade wouldn’t flatter my skintone. I am hear to tell that you that I couldn’t have been more wrong. When applied with a fan brush or your fingers, the Gilded Honey illuminator blends into your makeup seamlessly to create a natural glow. If you want an ultra-highlighted cheekbone, simply layer this shade on top of a cream product for more intensity. I’ve been using it every day that I’ve worn makeup for the past few weeks, and I know completely understand the hype on YouTube. Seriously, go to Ulta, swatch this highlighter, and tell me that you don’t hear angels singing in the background!
The Laura Geller Beach Matte Baked Hydrating Bronzer (available in 3 shades) and Baked Blush-n-Brighten in Honeysuckle (available in 7 other shades) are also stunning products. The bronzer is completely matte, and it blends like a dream for contouring or simply warming up the face. It looks amazing with theblush, which gives a natural rosy-mauve glow to your cheeks. Both of these products are completely fool-proof, and they quickly help you to create a beautiful makeup look. I am really tempted to go pick up the blush in more shades because it’s such a lovely formula!
The Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick (available in 12 shades) is another winner from this line! I’ve been using these lipsticks since last fall, and they’re one of my favorite lipstick formulas out of my entire collection. They’re creamy without having too much slip, and they have a beautiful satin finish that’s incredibly comfortable on the lips. They’re ultra-pigmented, and the color will last on your lips for hours.
1. Tribeca Tan | 2. Bleecker St Peach | 3. Madison Ave Pink | 4. Mulberry St | 5. Big Apple Red | 6. Fifth Ave Ruby | 7. Broadway Plum
The Laura Geller Iconic Baked Sculpting Lipstick available in 12 shades at Ulta, and I’ve swatched the seven shades that I have for reference. All of the lipsticks are completely opaque with the exception of Broadway Plum, which slightly more sheer than the other colors. I find all of these colors to be very easy to wear, but my most-worn shades are Mulberry St, Fifth Ave Ruby, Madison Ave Pink, and Broadway Plum. This lipstick formula is fabulous, and I’m sure I’ll pick up more shades in the future!
So after I played with the above-mentioned products for several weeks, this beautiful makeup set showed up on my doorstep. The Laura Geller Mediterranean Journey Collection is a limited-edition gift set.. This set includes a Baked Balance-N-Brighten (choose one of 5 shades), Baked Mediterranean Bronzer in Moroccan Bronze, Baked Color Intense Shadow Duo in Stone/Terracotta, Kajal Eyeliner in Smokey Taupe Kohl, Love Me Dew Lip Crayon in Turkish Cafe, dual-sided brush, and a cute black and gold tote bag. If you bought all of the items in this set separately, the total would exceed $155, so this makeup collection is a fantastic value.
I’ve previously used and loved the Baked Balance-N-Brighten powder from Laura Geller, so I was thrilled to receive another color to try out. The Porcelain shade is slightly too light for my current skin tone, but it was the perfect brightening powder to set my concealer and highlight in the inner portion of my face the past two days. When you buy this set, you can choose the color of the Balance-N-Bright powder to match your skin tone. The powder comes in five shades to suit very light to deep skin tones. The Baked Mediterranean Bronzer is a seriously stunning makeup product. The beautiful inlay design is a showstopper, and the formula is really good too. This light bronzer is perfect for warming up your complexion in the summer without looking muddy or flat, and I think it would also be beautiful blended into your blush on warm summer days. The Baked Color Intense Shadow Duo in Stone/Terracotta is another winner, and the metallic shades can be applied wet or dry for to create a bronze eye look. Today I applied the taupe-brown shade wet over my entire eye lid, and then I used a fluffy brush to buff the red-toned bronze eye shadow through my crease. I also use a pencil brush to smudge the bronze shade along my upper and lower lash line. It’s a really pretty look for summer! The Kajal Eyeliner in Smokey Taupe Kohl really surprised me. Kajal pencils are well-known to be incredibly creamy and intense, but they normally smudge and smear all over my face in minutes. This pencil applied like a dream, but it set and refused to budge! In fact, yesterday I had to break out my waterproof eye makeup remover to get this product off my eyes. Definitely an impressive eyeliner! The Love Me Dew Lip Crayon in Turkish Cafe has an extremely comfortable formula, and the sheer tint of berry color is great for brightening up your complexion. It’s like a lip gloss in stick form, so it’s very easy to apply.
I have to say that I am incredibly impressed with Laura Geller makeup. All of the products that I’ve used have been top-notch, and I know that I’ll be buying more of their products in the future!
