Pop of Pink: An Easy Everyday Makeup Tutorial
Stubbornness runs in my family, and I definitely inherited the gene. I’m fairly laid-back when it comes to most things, but once my stubborn switch turns on, it’s ON. Whether I’m working towards a business goal, hunting down a sold-out eyeshadow palette, or trying to find cheesecake in a small town at 1am, I won’t stop until I succeed at my mission. Unfortunately, I can just as easily go the opposite way. When I don’t have a clear goal in sight, it’s easy for me to spend two days in sweatpants and a messy bun binge-watching Friday Night Lights. As you might imagine, this little personality quirk makes working at home (and being my own boss) a tricky situation.
I’ve recently adopted a daily schedule to keep me organized and focused. I wake up at the same time every day, get dressed, spend a few minutes applying makeup, and immediately start on a few work tasks. I’ve learned that the simple act of getting dressed forces me to wake up, helps me get into my “work mode,” and it also provides the added bonus of reducing the number of times I accidentally go to the store with zit cream on my face…which has hilariously happened on multiple occasions. Applying a quick coat of natural makeup helps me start off the day on the right foot and gives me an extra boost of confidence. Over the past few weeks, I’ve been wearing this naturally pretty makeup look on a daily basis. It’s the perfect everyday makeup routine because it’s extremely quick and all of the products can be purchased at Walmart.
After cleansing, toning, and moisturizing my face, I like to even out my complexion with a BB cream. Lately I’ve been digging Burt’s Bees® BB Cream in the shade Light/Medium. It provides light-to medium coverage, and the formula contains SPF15 and leaves behind a natural satin finish. I really love how lightweight this foundation feels on my skin, and I’m addicted to the orange/herbal scent. It’s also nice that the formula doesn’t contain parabens, pthalates, petrolatum, or SLS, and Burt’s Bees® never tests on animals.
While you can apply the BB cream with your fingers, I prefer to use the EcoTools® Skin Perfecting Makeup Brush. This brush smooths out the BB cream perfectly, and it makes the process incredibly quick. After thirty seconds of blending, you’re good to go. All of the EcoTools® brushes that I own are incredibly soft and high-quality, but the company itself is just as impressive. They use recycled aluminum ferrules, bamboo handles, cruelty-free bristles, and re-purposed packaging made from 100% tree-free paper in all of their brushes and packaging, so you can feel good about your purchase. As if those features weren’t amazing enough, EcoTools® is donating $1 (up to $100k) to help provide educational support to women around the world when you use the tag #MyTrueBeauty on social media!

The new lipstick line from Burt’s Bees® is perfect for my morning makeup routine. The 14 shades in the collection provide the perfect amount of color, and the lipstick’s hydrating formula keeps my lips feeling comfortable and moisturized for hours thanks to beeswax, moringa oil, and raspberry seed oil. While some of the shades might seem dark and scary in the tube, I can confirm that all of the shades in the collection are extremely wearable and appropriate for work or play.
I swatched all 14 shades from the collection, so that you can see exactly how they look on your lips. If you’re looking for a new signature lipstick shade, definitely pick up a few colors from the Burt’s Bees® line. They give your complexion a natural dose of color and your lips a quick dose of moisture.
