How to Create a Luxurious DIY Spa Night at Home
Today’s post is brought to you by Crest 3D White.
There’s nothing more relaxing than spending a day at the spa. The fluffy white bathrobes, soothing herbal aromas, and pampering treatments seem to make all of life’s little problems dissolve into thin air – until you check out and look at the bill. While I love professional beauty treatments, spa days are luxurious treat that I can’t always afford. Today I’m sharing six DIY beauty treatments that will help you mimic the spa experience at home without the spa price tag.
Pamper Your Skin
In my opinion, skincare is the most important part of your beauty routine. Taking the time to pamper your skin each day isn’t always possible, but I try to give myself a mini-facial at least once a week. After removing your makeup, use a gentle cleanser and exfoliating toner to cleanse your pores and prep the skin for treatments. After you’ve taken all of excess oil, dirt, and debris off your skin, it’s time to replenish your skin with moisture and nutrients with a soothing mask.Soothing Milk & Honey Facial Mask
⅓ cup plain yogurt
2 Tbs oatmeal
1 tsp honey
¼ banana (mashed)
2-3 drops of argan oil (optional)
This DIY mask recipe starts with a base of yogurt to calm redness from acne, rosacea, and eczema. Honey and oatmeal are added to provide gentle exfoliation, and the mashed banana provides anti-aging benefits. I like to add a few drops of argan oil for an extra dose of moisture, but this step is optional. This soothing masks will make your skin feel smooth and soft after 10-15 minutes. After removing the mask with cool water, apply a thick layer of moisturizer or coconut oil to lock in the mask’s effects.
Soften Your Lips And Brighten Your Smile
Now that your skin is glowing, it’s time to create a brilliant smile and pillowy-soft lips. If you’re constantly battling chapped lips and/or dull, yellow teeth, this 3-step mini-routine featuring DIY lip scrub, lip balm, and Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips is the perfect fit.Moisturizing Lip Scrub
½ c sugar in the raw
⅓ c coconut oil
1 Tbs olive oil
This gentle lip scrub is easy to make and extremely effective. The sugar crystals gently buff away dead skin, and the moisturizing coconut and olive oils will replenish the moisture in your lips. If you’d like to add a refreshing scent to this DIY lip scrub recipe, simply add a small amount of fresh fruit juice or fresh mint to the mix. Two of my favorite scent additions are grapefruit juice/zest and vanilla extract.
Now that your lips are kissably soft, it’s time to make your smile brighter and whiter! Add a thick coat of your favorite lip balm to your lips and apply Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips to your upper and lower teeth for 30 minutes. I like to keep them on while I finish the last two steps of my DIY spa night, but you can also wear them while you’re watching a movie or catching up on your favorite TV show. Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips use the same enamel-safe whitening ingredients that professional whitening treatments utilize, so you can get similar results at home for a fraction of the cost. I’ve been using the 3D White toothbrushes, toothpastes, and Whitestrips for years, and I’m constantly impressed with the noticeable whitening effects.
Moisturize Your Hair
Your hair can take quite a bit of abuse from constant heat styling and the use of styling products. These damaging habits leave your skin dull, frizzy, and lifeless. I like to apply an ultra-moisturizing coconut oil hair mask once a week to restore my hair’s natural shine and moisture content. Since I’m a natural blonde, I also apply a chamomile tea rinse to my hair once a month to give my highlights a boost of golden color.Chamomile Hair Rinse
½ c water
2-3 bags chamomile tea
2 Tbs lemon juice
2-3 drops argan oil (optional)
This chamomile tea hair rinse recipe is perfect for natural blondes looking to boost their hair’s color. The chamomile tea brings out golden highlights, and the lemon juice will gently lighten your hair. I like to add a few drops of argan oil to counteract the drying aspects of lemon juice, but this ingredient is optional. If you have darker hair, I’d recommend leaving out the lemon juice and using a darker-colored tea with your desired tone.
Moisturizing Hair Mask
½ c coconut oil
¼ c olive oil
10 drops argan oil (optional)
This moisturizing hair mask recipe is a miracle worker for dry, frizzy hair. Simply combine the ingredients in a small bowl and use your hands to massage the mixture into your hair and scalp. After allowing the mask to sit in your hair for 5-10 minutes, you’ll want to wash your hair with shampoo once or twice to remove all of the excess oil. After shampooing your hair, spritz in a leave-in conditioner to lock in the moisture and shine.
Polish Your Nails
Now that your hair, skin, and lips are smoothed and softened, it’s time to move onto your hands and feet. While I don’t always re-create a full spa manicure and pedicure experience at home, a relaxing hand and foot soak followed by a quick coat of nail polish is an easy way to feel pampered at home.Citrus Mint Hand And Foot Soak
warm water
Epsom salts
sliced citrus fruit
mint leaves
I’ve lived in Florida for the majority of my life, so the scent of citrus fruit smells like home to me. I fill a large bowl with hot water and add grapefruit, orange, lemon, and lime slices to create a refreshingly tart aroma. I also love using fresh mint leaves to a clean and invigorating aroma, and a handful of Epsom salts will help to relax tired and achy muscles.
After you’ve soaked your hands and feet, apply a thick coat of your favorite lotion or coconut oil to soften your skin. Then, it’s time to add a quick coat of nail polish in your favorite shade.By the time you’ve finished your DIY spa treatments, the Crest 3D White Professional Effects Whitestrips have worked their magic. Simply remove the strips and enjoy your bright smile!
While nothing can replicate the serene experience of a day at the spa, these easy DIY beauty treatments can help you look and feel beautiful at home for a fraction of the cost.
