Thoughts on Mother’s Day
I have been extraordinarily blessed to grow up around incredible women. Women who lifted other women up and offered help to those in need without thinking twice. Women who loved their families with all of their hearts and protected their loved ones with fierce and unwavering loyalty. Women who understood the importance of a good laugh and never gave up a battle without a fight. Women who remained humble despite possessing great wisdom and boundless talent. I was privileged to know and learn from these women throughout my life, and I’ll always cherish the lessons they taught me.
As a child, I knew the women in my life were special, but I didn’t realize how rare it is to be surrounded by women who would do anything to help you live up to true potential. My mother always insisted that I honor all of the women in my life on Mother’s Day. She told me that becoming a mother was the greatest, hardest, and most important job in the entire world, and anyone trying to earn the title of mother deserved to be honored on Mother’s Day. I did what I was told, and I loved my grandmothers…but I didn’t really understand the importance of a card and bouquet of flowers. I’ve had to say goodbye to my mother and two of my grandmothers in the past two years, and I’ve quickly learned why my mother encouraged me to honor all of the women in my life: without all of their love and lessons, I wouldn’t be who I am today. I may not be a mother yet, but they taught me how to be a good wife, sister, daughter, and friend.

As if I wasn’t blessed enough to be born into a loving family, I had the pleasure of joining my husband’s family several years ago. My mother taught me to stay close to women with kind hearts and clear virtues, and I struck gold when I met my husband. Not only did I fall in love with my husband, but I quickly fell in love with his family. My mother-in-law has raised five beautiful children filled with personality and incredibly kind hearts, and it’s been a privilege to learn from her over the past few years. She’s an outstanding woman, and she’s raised three outstanding daughters- including my amazing sister-in-law Megan!

I’ve looked up to Megan since the first day I met her. Even when I was just the “new girlfriend”, she welcomed me into the family with open arms and immediately treated me with love and respect. She’s astonishingly beautiful, outrageously talented, and her fun personality and loving spirit instantly make you at ease. Her unwavering love for her two little ones is evident in her every movement. Her house is filled with love and laughter, and it’s been a joy to watch her raise my precious niece and nephew. I’m so proud to count her among my friends and family!
As if being an incredible person addition and mother wasn’t enough, Megan is also a gifted artist! Her etsy shop, Unique and Chic Creations, has taken the internet by storm, and her custom-painted letters for children’s rooms have delivered across the globe. I’m going to an in-depth post soon on all of her offerings, but if you’re looking for one-of-a-kind and absolutely adorable artwork for your kids’ rooms, you’ll want to check out her store!
This year I wanted to do something special for Megan for Mother’s day. She’s been the world’s best sister-in-law to me, and she couldn’t be doing a better job as a mother! This hard-working momma definitely deserves a little bit of rest and relaxation, so I headed to the Thymes website to pick out a selection of luxurious bath products. Every woman deserves to be pampered once in a while- especially on Mother’s Day. My first selection was the Kimono Rose candle, which features notes of rose, peony, jasmine, clementine, black currant, and vanilla. The scent is absolutely divine, and I knew that the feminine packaging would be a perfect fit for Megan’s style.
Bubble baths are universally relaxing, so I decided to pick up the Thymes Honey Bath in Tupelo Lemongrass. The fragrance notes of clementine, lemongrass, neroli, honey, lily of the valley, privet leaves, and tonka bean combine to form a refreshing citrus scent, and the moisturizing properties of Golden Tupelo honey soften your skin! This product seems positively luxurious, and I love that the packaging resembles a jar of fancy honey!
In addition to working hard as a mother, Megan works diligently on her art work orders throughout the day. Her hands receive quite a bit of abuse from hours of painting, so I thought she might like a few good hand creams to use during her breaks! The Thymes hand creams feature a thick and moisturizing formula, and I thought that the Tupelo Lemongrass and Aqua Coralline scents sounded lovely. If you’re looking for a way to honor the women in your life this year, check out the Thymes website for a selection of Mother’s Day gifts!
