California, Here We Come
I am so sorry that I’ve been MIA for over a week. I fully intended on publishing a few blog posts during my trip to southern California with Michelle and Stephanie, but I got distracted by the gorgeous beach views and In-N-Out animal style cheeseburgers in LA and Laguna Beach. Don’t worry, I have a few surprises on the way to make it up to you! In the meantime, I thought I’d share one of my favorite outfits from our trip to the West coast. When I’m on vacation, I’m all about simple outfits that are cute and comfortable. I want to spend my time enjoying the scenery and scouting out local restaurants – NOT spending hours debating which necklace to wear. My vacation fashion motto is minimal makeup, minimal accessories, minimal fuss. This was the perfect fit for lazy days in Laguna Beach at the Pacific Edge Resort because it looks adorable without fancy styling, and it’s as comfortable as a pair of pajamas!
SHOP THE LOOK:
DRESS: Off The Shoulder White Dress $17.51 (Runs true to size. I’m normally a size 4/small, but I ordered this dress in a size medium. It’s slightly too big, so I just ordered the same dress in a size small for an upcoming vacation!) | SHOES: $32 (fits true to size) | BELT: Cognac Belt | SUNGLASSES: Tortoiseshell Angular Retro Sunglasses
This (only $17.51) was ideal for our first day at the gorgeous Pacific Edge Hotel in Laguna Beach, California. It looked darling with sandals for a walk on the beach, and it easily transitioned into a fancier ensemble when I added a belt and my favorite cognac heels for lunch at the Driftwood Kitchen. On a side note, the brussel sprouts and butternut squash gnocci at Driftwood Kitchen will change your life! Full details to come.
After our ahhh-mazing meal, we headed down to the Pacific Edge Hotel’s colorful pool to take these pictures…and then the 60 mph winds started. Let’s just say that lightweight dresses, black liquid eyeliner, and high winds are not a good combination. As soon as we snapped the last picture for this post, Michelle and I sprinted (AKA awkwardly jogged in our heels) back to our hotel room to escape the rain. I wish I would’ve taken the time to take a before and after picture for this post because within 90 seconds my eyeliner was streaming down my face, my hair was soaking wet, and my arms were wrapped around the bottom of my dress to prevent any wardrobe mishaps! Thankfully our hotel room was warm and cozy, and the view of the rainy beach was still absolutely stunning. I can’t wait to share all of our trip details with you in an upcoming post!
Note about Shein: If you’re not sure about ordering from Shein, I’d recommending giving them a shot. I’ve had good luck with my orders by looking at user photos and reading reviews on sizing before making a purchase. I was afraid this dress would be on the smaller size, so I ordered a medium. I think the dress actually looks cute when it’s slightly loose, but I just ordered the same dress in a size small for an upcoming vacation! The dress is really comfortable, and it would also look great as a swim cover-up by the pool.
