possibly the world’s coolest fitness classes! #immersivefitness
It’s summer, and all I can think about is going to the beach every single day. I want to wear a bikini, but my butt and thighs don’t seem to be shrinking on their own despite my best mental efforts. I’ve been eating healthier, and I’ve been exercising…but the whole routine is really starting to wear on me. I don’t mind healthy food, but I kind of hate going to the gym. The thing is, I don’t hate exercising. In fact, I really enjoy exercising. Unfortunately, as a former dancer and dance instructor, I have been completely spoiled with fun and engaging group classes with great music, great choreography, and immaculately planned exercises. You can imagine that after a few decades of incredible group classes, I don’t really want to go to the gym and run on the treadmill or complete boring, repetitive motions on the machines. I still do it because I love donuts and ice cream and french fries, but I’ve really been wanting to find a group class that would get me excited to go to the gym. I know from my dance years that if you’re excited about your workout, you will do it A LOT more often!
After a little research, I think I’ve found the perfect classes. Early last week, I watched this #immersivefitness video from Les Mills, and it got me so excited about the possibility of attending Immersive Fitness classes. Take a look at the video, and then I’ll explain why I’m actually excited about exercising again!
After I watched the video, I was so interested that I immediately started stalking Les Mills on Instagram. The classes look amazing. Think yoga/stretch classes where you’re dancing with you friends in a tent at a musical festival or kickboxing classes where you’re ducking away from cars and aliens. The concept is so fun, and I think it’s really going to change how people relate to fitness!
The Project: Immersive Fitness was created by Les Mills, who’s famous for BODYPUMP™and BODYCOMBAT™classes, in collaboration with Reebok. Their vision was to create fitness studios with cinema-quality videos and choreographed exercise that fits in perfectly with images and music playing on the screen. The result is an immersive fitness class that looks way more fun than any exercise class I’ve ever attended in a normal gym.
Reebok and the group fitness programmer LES MILLS™, known for BODYPUMP™, BODYCOMBAT™, and the LES MILLS GRIT™, both had a similar idea to modernize the fitness studio. They wanted to make fitness studios cool again. Through their partnership, Reebok and Les Mill have also created a fun line of apparel and footwear, and they’re launching quarterly innovative events that allow you, the consumer, to try out the #immersivefitness experience. Les Mills is planning a US tour in 2015 with pop-up studios to allow you try out the Immersive Fitness experience! If you want more information on the dates/cities of the tour, you sign up for updates at the Les Mills website or follow @thepr0ject on Instagram!
