I inherited quite a few traits from my momma. Of course I have her dark blonde hair and deep-set blue eyes, but I also got the gene for milkshake addiction. Yes, it’s a thing. In my childhood household, milkshakes were the ultimate afternoon snack, and we only had the best. My mom’s homemade milkshakes were always my #1 choice, but mom had a few local spots that knew her order by heart: large vanilla shake, spoon, no straw. Sharing a relaxing moment sipping on a delicious milkshake and laughing together made the day’s stress slip away. Even though my love affair with milkshakes is borderline ridiculous, I like to think that I’m honoring my late mother every time I make a fabulous milkshake. Today I’m sharing one of my new favorites- a toasted marshmallow milkshake. You won’t believe how simple it is to make, and it features a secret ingredient that makes this milkshake out-of-this-world delicious!
The ingredients couldn’t be more straight-forward. Milkshakes are always made with ice cream and milk, and of course a toasted marshmallow milkshake has to have an obscene amount of marshmallows! There’s one ingredient that you may not expect- Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt in Vanilla Bean. I eat yogurt almost everyday for a nutritious breakfast or quick afternoon snack, and the Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt line is one of my new loves because it has flavors inspired by your favorite ice cream flavors! Adding a little bit of this yogurt into the milkshake tones down the sweetness and adds the slightest tang that makes the toasted marshmallow flavor sing. It’s not just amazing, it’s ah-mazing. Since I like to indulge in an afternoon milkshake a little more often than I should, the Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt also helps me keep the milkshake a little healthier. You can also substitute ice cream for frozen yogurt or frozen almond milk/coconut milk ice cream, and full-fat milk can easily be exchanged for skim milk, almond milk, coconut milk, or cashew milk!
Even with these healthier ingredients, this shake is absolutely mind-blowing. I had to do some extensive “recipe testing” this week just to make sure it was good enough for you guys. Needless to say, every single variation was fabulous.
Toasted Marshmallow Milkshakes
Serves 2-3
1 carton Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt in Vanilla Bean
6-8 large scoops of vanilla frozen dessert (ice cream, frozen yogurt, etc)
20 medium marshmallows or 1.5 cups mini marshmallows
splash of milk of your choice (regular, almond, coconut, cashew)
Place the marshmallows in an oven-proof dish coated with non-stick spray and place under your oven’s broiler until the marshmallows are evenly browned. Use a spoon or spatula to flip the marshmallows over and place the dish back in the oven to brown the other side of the marshmallows. Place the frozen dessert of your choice into the blender with the entire carton of Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt in Vanilla Bean and the toasted marshmallows. Top the the mixture with a splash of milk and blend until the milkshake is completely smooth. For a thinner consistency, simply add more milk.
If you want to have a “me moment” for yourself, sit down with a Müller® Ice Cream Inspired Yogurt and enjoy your favorite activity. Whether you’re reading a book, catching up on reality TV, or enjoying a sunny morning, a carton of this delicious yogurt will definitely make the moment a little bit sweeter.
