The Ultimate Oscar Party {Party Ideas and Outfit Inspiration!}
The Oscars are undoubtably the most glamorous event of the year, and I love every single minute of the broadcast from watching the celebrities walk the red carpet to seeing the incredible after parties! This year, I’m planning to host an Oscar party for my girlfriends where we can pretend that we’re fancy A-List celebrities for the night. I’m keeping things simple with a Hollywood Glam dress code, a live broadcast of the red carpet and the Academy Awards, and a variety of decadent desserts and fun cocktails! When you combine the glitz and glam of the Academy Awards with good friends, good fashion, and good food and drinks, there’s no way your evening won’t be a huge success.
To really get into the spirit of the Oscars, encourage your friends to wear outfits inspired by classic Hollywood, their favorite celebrity, or one of the movies nominated for Best Film! Assign a friend to the photographer of the evening and make your driveaway or main hallway a red carpet with several photo ops for your guest. You could even go over the pictures from your “red carpet event” before the Academy Awards begin and assign your own Best Dressed list of the evening! You could make the event more fun by creating your own awards for the evening. Have your guests vote and hand out prizes for categories like Best Dressed or Best Outfit Inspired by A Feature Film!
Despite being tempted to wear a see-through dress with a plunging neckline and huge 70s hair a la Amy Adams in American Hustle, I decided to stick with classic Hollywood glamour. A girl can never go wrong with a little black dress in a flattering silhouette. Despite it’s traditional shape, this dress has modern details like a black lace overlay, mid-length sleeves, and a low-cut back. Studded nude pumps, a black leather and gold studded belt, and a gold pyramid necklace complete the look and make me feel like a movie star.
To keep the LA feel of the outfit, I added natural loose curls and fresh-faced makeup. Like any good celebrity, keep your look photo-ready for the photo ops at your party with perfect skin. After applying a great foundation and powder, liven up your complexion with a light bronzer, soft blush, and subtle highlighter. Subtle eyeshadow, false lashes, and a thin line of liquid eyeliner bring a touch of glam to the makeup and make your eye pop on camera. I added a bright pink lip for fun, but I recommend choosing a lip color that will make you want to smile the entire evening. Wear any color that makes you feel beautiful! 
I love the contrast of modern jewelry against the classic black lace. You can literally pair a little black dress with nearly any jewelry, but I opted for classic gold accessories in a slightly edgy triangular pyramid necklace.
I love the way these pumps add a little sass to my outfit with the crazy studs on the back of the heel. Take a tip from celebrity red carpet style and wear nude pumps. They match with any outfit, and they’ll elongate the line of your leg! Heels with hidden platforms are the way to go for an evening with friends. In addition to being gorgeous showstoppers, the platform actually allows higher heels to be more comfortable. Add a platform, and you can upgrade from 4″ to 5″ heels with no additional discomfort. You’ll look thinner and more polished with a higher heel. As I always say, the higher the heel, the closer to God.
You can’t have a good party without fantastic cocktails and delicious snacks. I want my girlfriends to feel completely spoiled, just like a celebrity at an Oscar after-party, so I opted for decadent Bailey’s cocktails and adorable desserts.
If you’re not a pro-level bartender, no worries. I chose to stock my party’s bar cart with Bailey’s because it honestly just tastes delicious on its own! Cute cupcakes are always a good idea. Choose a variety of flavors to give your guests options and to create a colorful display.
Fruit tarts are a crowd pleaser and are about as pretty as a movie star. Add a plate of macarons or fancy cookies, and your guests will be overwhelmed with joy by the array of sweets.
