As a child, I was always one of the tallest kids in my class. I was 5’2 on my 10th birthday, and I remember overhearing my pediatrician tell my mom that I’d grow to at least 5’9 during my annual physical exam…and then God laughed. My growth spurts basically stopped immediately after that visit to the doctor’s (at least vertical growth spurts). I did grow another inch over the next few years, but let’s just say my dreams of growing into a lanky model went buh-bye. I now stand at a whopping 5’3. Even though I complain about my short stature constantly, there are plenty advantages to being short- such as shopping in the kids’ section!

Ok, I know what you’re thinking. I am obviously way too old to pull of most of the clothing in the little girls section, but my fellow petite gals need to trust me on this one. If you’re on the shorter side and between a size 00-6, you’ll want to take a stroll through the girls section on your next visit to Target. The items are not as childish as you might think, and the prices are usually $5-20 less than equivalent items in the adult section! This adorable polka dot chambray dress from the girls’ section couldn’t be cuter, and I receive at least a dozen compliments every time I wear it.  I recently wore it to Disney and had three separate people ask me where I had bought it! Keep in mind that girls’ clothing is going to be a wider and shorter than women’s clothing, so you might need to play around with sizing to find your perfect fit.

If you’re a shorty like me, take advantage of your short stature and save money by shopping in the kids’ section…or just buy a pair of cute 6″ wedges and pretend to be taller- my current favs are only $25 at Lulu*s!

Any other short girls out there? Any good “short girl problems” stories?
