Classic Fall Style with Johnston & Murphy Riding Boots

For years I’d stare into my overflowing closet each and every morning, and I’d wonder how it was possible for me to have so many clothes and still feel like I didn’t have anything to wear. Last year, I decided to finally do something about my little problem. I got rid of 75% of my clothes, shoes, and accessories. Yep, you read that right. A girl who writes about beauty and fashion for a living emptied out her closet. I threw away all of the items that were damaged or worn-out, and I donated everything that wasn’t my current size or style. The last step was selling or donating all of the items that I loved but never wore. At the end of the day, it doesn’t matter if you like the aesthetic of an item if it isn’t comfortable or easy to style. I’ll admit that my closet purging experience was a little traumatic for my shopaholic heart, but the results were incredible. I was left with a closet filled only with items that I love and use on a regular basis, which makes it so much quicker to get dressed in the mornings. I was also able to see a distinct pattern in the items that I decided to keep. Each and every item that remained in my closet had three things in common: high-quality construction, a classic aesthetic, and a comfortable design.

Now I have an entirely different view on shopping. I resist the impulse purchases on trendy items and focus on investing in items that I’ll love and use frequently for years to come.
