Sharing My Grandmother's Love of Ivory
I was blessed as child to have the world's best grandparents. They went above and beyond to support my family in times of need, and most importantly, they loved me, my brother, and my cousins (including Michelle) unconditionally. They sacrificed so much to help make our family the best it could possibly be, and I will be eternally grateful for my close relationship with them. While I always knew my grandparents were incredible people, I honestly didn't realize just how special our relationship was until I was an adult. After speaking with my friends, I realized most people didn't see their grandparents every single week - let alone multiple times a week. I can't even begin to calculate the thousands of hours I've spent at my grandparents homes' throughout my life, but I do know my grandparents were more than just grandparents to me. They were mentors and friends, and I miss them each and every day.
Now that I have a family of my own, it's magical to see my little girl having a wonderful time with her grandparents and great grandparents. Seeing my grandmother Domee play with Summer absolutely melts my heart, and it makes me remember all of the good times I've shared with her throughout the years. She's in her eighties but has more energy and spunk than most people in their sixties, and I just adore spending time with her and learning from her sage advice. While many things have changed throughout the years, it's so comforting to see my grandmother, give her a hug, and feel her loving embrace and smell the clean scent of Ivory soap.
My grandmother is extremely kind and generous, but she's also a straight-shooter. If something is great, she will let you know. And if something isn't great... well, she'll let you know that too! One product she has always had in her house for the thirty years that I've known her is Ivory soap, and I will always associate the classic Ivory scent with her. In addition to always smelling fantastic, my grandmother also has incredible skin. I'm actually taken aback when she holds my hand because her skin is just so soft! Domee is not into beauty products (at all), but she swears by Ivory. I know she is not easily impressed, so the fact that she's used Ivory soap for over 30 years tells me it is a seriously impressive product.
I've spent the past month pairing down our home to fit our new lifestyle, and as I was clearing out my overflowing beauty closet, I thought about what my grandmother's bathroom closet looked like: towels, one lipstick, one powder, one bottle of lotion, and Ivory soap. Despite only containing a few items, they're all products she loves and enjoys using. This year, I want to embrace her simple lifestyle. One of the first changes I've made has been to streamline our bathrooms. Our sinks, tubs, and showers are no longer cluttered with half-empty bottles of products that we only half-heartedly like. Instead, we're stocked up on our all-time favorites - including Ivory.

With a little one at home, I've started to rethink quite a few of the products I use. Babies have such sensitive skin, and I'd hate for her to have a reaction to something I've put on my body. I've switched to a gentler laundry detergent, minimized my use of perfumes, and most recently, switched to more gentle body products. My husband and I always share soap and body washes to keep things simple, and Ivory fits into our daily routine perfectly. The light scent smells delightfully clean, and the simple, gentle cleansers in the product keep us clean without drying out our skin.
Ivory was created 138 years ago to be the purest bar of soap and still only contains the most pure and purposeful ingredients. My husband and I have both been experiencing dry and sensitive skin throughout the winter, and Ivory works beautifully on our skin while still being extremely gentle. After trying the Ivory Original 3-bar packs of soap, our bathrooms are now stocked and ready to go for spring. I can't wait until my grandmother comes over and sees the newest addition to our bathroom!

While I do love the original Ivory soap, I was curious to try out their two new body wash products. The Ivory Free & Gentle Body Wash with Pear & Sandalwood was an instant favorite for many reasons. First of all, the vintage-inspired packaging looks absolutely gorgeous in our shower, and I have a major soft spot for any products featuring a pump-top dispenser. It also contains the #1 Dermatologist- Recommended moisturizing ingredient, so I can rest assured that Summer won't get any irritations from cuddling with her mama. In addition to looking great, this body wash couldn't have a better formula. It's free of dyes and parabens, features a lightly fruity scent of pear and sandalwood, and is formulated to gently cleanse and nourish your skin.

Another winner in our home has been the Ivory Original Body Wash. It has a new gentle formula free of dyes and heavy perfumes but still has the gentle clean trusted for generations. I've already purchased a second bottle of this body wash for grandmother because I think she's going to love it! It lathers beautifully, cleanses without irritating, and leaves behind a soft and subtle scent. I love how my skin feels clean but not tight or uncomfortable after stepping out the shower, and the light scent doesn't compete with my other lotions or perfumes. It's perfect!

Some things are classic for a reason, and I completely understand why Ivory has been trusted for generations. My grandmother was 100% right - as always. If you'd like to learn more about Ivory, click here.
Now that I've simplified our bathrooms, I'm seriously in the mood to streamline more areas of our home (closet decluttering post is up next), but I'd love to how you simplify your life. This new mama needs all the help she can get! Leave a comment below telling me how you've simplified your life this year and/or which products you can't live without!
