Feel Better Soon Kits
When you’re not feeling well, even the smallest act of kindness can make a big difference. That’s why I’m thrilled to be partnering with Kleenex brand’s Someone Needs One website and Share a Message of Care intiative in today’s post. Hope and positivity is contagious, so it’s important to show our friends and family how much we care when they need it the most. Whether your loved one is feeling under the weather physically or emotionally, a Feel Better Soon Kit is the perfect way to show that you care and hopefully put a smile on their face!
Whether your friend is sniffling away at home with a cold or trying to forge through an emotionally draining time of their life, it’s hard to know exactly what will make them feel better; however, it’s important to try. According to a survey by Kleenex brand, almost 50% of people in the U.S. say they have missed an opportunity to show someone that they care about them – especially in life’s everyday moments. I know from personal experience that sometimes knowing that someone cares enough to reach out in your time of need is just as – if not more powerful than any help they may provide. It may be impossible to wish away your loved one’s sickness or troubles, it is easy to help them feel a little bit more comfortable! I like to create Feel Better Soon Kits that include a variety of comforting items to help them feel relaxed. Some of my favorite items to include are silky eye masks, nourishing lip balm, softly scented candles or aromatherapy oils, and of course a box of Kleenex Ultra Soft Tissues tissues to help with the sniffles or to wipe away tears.
No matter what the situation may be, sending food is always a good idea. I like to add a cute mug, a box of my loved one’s favorite tea or coffee, and a sweet treat into every kit. I also include an encouraging book just in case they need something to distract them from their current situation. If inspirational books aren’t your friend or family member’s cup of tea, trashy gossip mags, crossword puzzle books, and audiobooks work equally well in terms of distraction!
The final two things that I like to include in my Feel Better Soon kits are a cozy scarf or blanket and a heartfelt note. Your loved ones are guaranteed to be comforted by your warm words, and according to a 2005 study by Stephen G. Post, it can actually help you feel better too! His research shows that there’s a strong connection “between kindly emotions, helping behavior, or both, and well-being, health and longevity.” Helping others and spreading kindness helps everyone, so I highly encourage you to reach out to your friends, family, neighbors, co-workers, or even a stranger and spread hope and positivity!Kleenex Brand wants to spread the message that no matter how big or small an event may be, the simple act of sharing a Kleenex Facial Tissue with someone else can connect and uplift us all as a community.
