Easy And Affordable Drugstore Makeup Tutorial for Holiday Parties + Last Minute Christmas Gift Ideas #HappyAllTheWay

It’s the middle of Christmas season, and my normally blank social agenda is filling up quickly. With so many parties to attend, I started making grand plans about all of the elegant party dresses and elaborate makeup looks I’d put together. And then I remembered that I still haven’t bought all of my Christmas presents for friends and family. As a young twenty-something, I just can’t justify spending tons of money on fancy outfits and makeup that I won’t wear very often. I’ve been brainstorming ways to incorporate the clothing and makeup I have on hand with a few new purchases into my holiday party looks. Yesterday, I showed you my casual holiday party look, and today I’ll be showing you my go-to makeup look for the holidays. It’s incredibly easy and affordable! I was browsing through Walgreens the other night looking for Christmas present ideas and creative gifts for friends and family, and I was inspired by some of the new winter makeup products. I decided to create a holiday party makeup look that featured only drugstore products.
As usual, my first stop in Walgreens was the Jordana display. It’s tucked away next to the cosmetics department register, but it’s a goldmine. They’re products are ridiculously cheap and surprisingly good quality. I picked up a refill of my favorite Jordana eye products: Best Lash Extreme Mascara and Fabuliner liquid eyeliner.
My next stop was the Rimmel display. I knew that I wanted to find a bold and long-lasting lip color, and Walgreens is the only store that sells the new Jordan Show Off Lip Lacquers. They’re incredibly pigmented, shiny, long-lasting, and so beautiful in photography. I picked up a hot berry pink called Apocaliptic.
I escaped Walgreens without doing too much damage to my bank account. I knew that I’d only need a few new items to create a fun holiday look.
Step One: Create A Flawless Canvas
Step One: Create A Flawless Canvas
I’ll spare you the pictures of me without any makeup, but I used Neutrogena Healthy Skin foundation to even out my skintone, Revlon Nearly Naked powder to set the foundation, and Maybelline Dream Lumi concealer to highlight underneath my eyes. One of my Walgreens purchases was this new product from CoverGirl, The TruMagic Skin Perfector. It’s really such a cool product. You can use this throughout the night instead of powder to reduce shine and fix makeup that has smeared. I also used this product on my T-zone after completing my makeup to create a matte finish and help reduce shine throughout the night. It’s the perfect product to carry in your handbag for touch-ups at a holiday party!
After finishing my face makeup, I needed to contour my cheekbones and add a pop of color to my cheeks.
To create a more chiseled look, I used the CoverGirl stick concealer that I purchased from Walgreens. I purchased the concealer in the darkest shade with the intention of using it as a cream contour product. Simply draw diagonal lines underneath your cheekbones and along the sides of your nose to create a slimmer appearance. I blended the concealer with a sponge to soften the line.
To finish my contour process, I used NYC’s bronzer in sunny over the stick concealer. The powder product over the cream product creates a longer lasting finish and intensifies the contour a bit. Fish faces make contouring a breeze, so no judgement about my crazy face!
I finished the look with a glowy blush- Milani’s Luminoso. I wanted to add a bit of color and glow without going overboard because I was planning on a bold lip.
The next step was to create a fun eye look. I used four of my Walgreens purchases and my well-loved Sweet As Candy palette from Wet-N-Wild.
Despite having full eyebrows in real life, my eyebrows tend to disappear in photographs and under bright lights. I added a touch of a blonde eyebrow pencil to give them a bit of color and definition.
I used my finger to add a light layer of the Maybelline 24-Hour Color Tattoo in Inked In Pink from Walgreens to my eyes. This cream shadow base adds a pretty pink champagne glow and helps your powder eyeshadows stay in place all night.
I used a fluffy crease brush to add a shimmery medium brown eyeshadow to the crease of my eyes. I wanted to keep the eye look somewhat natural but still shimmery. I didn’t want to have bold eyes and bold lips.
The Jordana Fabuliner from Walgreens makes creating a cat eye eyeliner look a breeze. The marker applicator is so easy to use, and the eyeliner doesn’t budge once it’s applied!
The last step of my eye look was to add several coats of Jordana’s Best Lash Extreme mascara.
Step Four: Add Bold Lips
I finished off my holiday party look with the Rimmel Show Off Lip Lacquer in Apocaliptic and a few loose curls. I think this makeup look is perfect for any holiday party or festive occasion. It’s easy and so affordable!
