My husband and I both come from families who are passionate about football, and the Superbowl is the football event of the year. This year, I was lucky enough to see FSU win the BCS National Championship with my family, so I’m extra excited for the Superbowl this year! I’m planning on throwing a huge party to celebrate the event with family and friends. One of my favorite ways to stay organized and add a little bit of personalization to any party is to create customized storage containers. I’ve always been a huge fan of Rubbermaid Takealongs, which are reusable plastic storage containers that you can use to prep, serve, and store your party foods! They’re convenient and affordable, but I love adding my own festive touch to the packaging with another one of my favorite products, Sharpie markers.
My first step in planning my upcoming Superbowl party was to create customized containers with our monogram and last name; however, you could easily add your favorite team’s logo or name to add a festive and creative touch to your Superbowl party. Here’s an easy step-by-step tutorial of the process that I used to create my customized Rubbermaid containers!
For this project, you’ll simply need Rubbermaid Takealongs, Sharpie markers, tape, and scissors.
Step One: Using your desired font, create a word document on your computer with your desired text. You could also print our your favorite sport’s team logo or any other design! After printing your text or design, be sure to check that it’s the correct size for your container, and then cut away the excess paper.
Step Two: Secure your template to the Rubbermaid Takealong using tape.
Step Three: Flip the lid over, so that you can see the template in reverse.
Step Four: After flipping over the lid, use a Sharpie marker to carefully trace your desired template. After making a few containers, I’ve found that long, fluid strokes produce the best results.
Step Five: Flip the lid back over and remove the template and tape. Re-trace the design on the front of the lid with your Sharpie marker and fill in the design.
Step Six: After admiring your new design, you’ll want to customize all of your containers. I was so excited about my monogram design, that I decided to decorate another container with our last name! Adding your name to storage containers makes transporting food to parties a breeze. Your containers will never get lost at parties again! My next project is to create Seahawks and Broncos containers for my Superbowl party!
I followed the same steps to create a Rubbermaid Takealongs container with my last name, and I’m so excite to create even more. These containers are the best resource for parties because you only need one container per dish for prep, service, and storage! They’re already extremely affordable, but from January 25 until February 8, you can get coupons for $1 off any Rubbermaid food storage container and $1 off Sharpie 4-pack or larger.
