Christmas Party Makeup Tutorials
Today’s post is sponsored by Target.Over the past few months, I’ve been adding various holiday parties, work events, and appointments in my calendar for December, but I hadn’t actually looked at the month as a whole until last week. My eyes bulged out of my head as I realized that I have nearly every single day completely booked through the end of the year! I’m excited to spend time with family, friends, and work colleagues at the plethora of parties throughout the month, but it can be difficult (and expensive) to survive the holiday party season. Instead of spending tons of money on new outfits for each event, I’ll be pairing a few classic dresses with showstopping makeup and a few statement accessory pieces. While I love classically glamorous makeup for the holidays, I’m also a fan of a sleek and modern look. Today, I’m sharing two Christmas party makeup tutorials that will help you stand out at any party. Whether you decide to rock the classic or modern look, you’re guaranteed to look beautiful and photo-ready.
Modern Holiday Makeup
While the holidays normally call for va-va-voom makeup, I’ve been gravitating toward a minimal, fashion-forward look. A few swipes of taupe metallic eye shadow, a coat or two of mascara, and a bold berry lip can completely transform your holiday outfit in minutes!
For my modern holiday look, I used the angled crease brush from the limited-edition Sonia Kashuk Facet-nating brush set to pat the pale metallic taupe eye shadow from Wet n Wild Color Icon Eye Shadow Collection in Comfort Zone (top right corner) across my entire eyelid. Then I used the pointed blending brush to lightly apply the metallic bronze and shimmery dark brown shades (bottom two shades in the left column of the palette) into the crease of my eye. This makeup look is all about simplicity, so I skipped eyeliner and finished my eyes with two coats of L’Oréal Paris Voluminous Superstar Mascara. For the finishing touch, I added a deep berry lip with the Milani Color Statement Lipstick in Sangria. It’s fabulously pigmented and smooth, and it smells like watermelon!
This trendy makeup will look perfect with any holiday outfit, but it would also make a great Christmas present. If you need to find a fun holiday present under $20, head to Target and create a custom gift set with the eye shadow palette, mascara, and lipstick. Any fashionista or makeup lover would be thrilled to receive this creative and affordable gift.
Classic Holiday Makeup
As much as I love my first look, I can’t go through an entire holiday season without breaking out bright cherry lips, glittery eyes, and dramatic false lashes. This classic makeup is my go-to look for fancy holiday events, and it’s easier to accomplish than it might seem.
After creating a flawless complexion with a full-coverage foundation and concealer, use your finger to pat a champagne glitter or shimmer eye shadow across your entire eyelid. I love using the Physicians Formula Shimmer Strips Eye Enhancing Shadow and Liner because each shade sparkles like a diamond. To define the eyes, use a pencil brush to blend a shimmery brown eye shadow in your crease and a shimmery gunmetal eye shadow into the outer corner of your eyes. Next, apply a thick line of the Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen in Black Noir to your upper lash line and outer corner of your lower lash line, and follow up with a few coats of black mascara. If you’re in the mood for extreme drama, add a pair of false eyelashes on top of the mascara. Once your eyes are complete, apply the Revlon Super Lustrous Lipstick in Cherry Blossom. In this look, we want all of the attention on our eyes and lips, so skip the bright blush and extreme contour.
If there’s a glamour queen in your family, she’ll love to receive the Sonia Kashuk Edition Facet- nating brush set or Pixi by Petra Endless Silky Eye Pen Quartette for Christmas. Both of these limited-edition Target beauty sets are impressive gifts that won’t break the bank.
Whether you choose a modern or classic makeup look, red nails are basically mandatory for any holiday event. My current favorite red is Essie nail polish in Shall We Chalet. It’s the perfect polish to wear all season long.
