Easy 4th of July Makeup Tutorials
Thanks to Target Style for sponsoring today’s post.
I tend to play it safe with my makeup looks. You can find me wearing nude lips and subtle eyeshadow almost any day of the week, but I’ve decided that it’s time to take a few more risks in the beauty department. In honor of 4th of July, I created two bold makeup tutorials that feature the holiday’s signature red, white, and blue shades! 4th of July is Independence Day after all, so why not go your own way with your makeup for the day?Look #1: Ultra Glam
If you’re not so sure about bright and bold makeup, this Ultra Glam look might be your perfect fit. It features light ivory shades on the eyes and the brightest red lip on the block, but it’s not over-the-top. While this old school Hollywood-inspired makeup definitely brings the drama, it’s classic enough to remain appropriate for any event. Keep reading to see how to re-create this chic look! Each look has its own signature lip and eye combination, but both looks start with the same base. I use the Rimmel Lasting Perfection to create a flawless base for the rest of my makeup. This foundation provides full coverage with a satin finish, and I always get compliments on my skin when I wear it to events! After my skin tone is evened out, I use a few dots of the Maybelline Fit Me concealer underneath my eyes, and I set my T-zone with a light dusting of the Neutrogena Shine Control Powder. Once my complexion is picture-perfect, I add color back into my face with the Pixi Quick Fix Bronzer. It’s a loose powder that provides the most natural tan color. I like to sweep it underneath my cheekbones and around the sides of my face for a bit of light contouring. The last step in my prep is to add a pop of pink to my cheeks with the Maybelline Master Hi-Light blush in Pink Rose! Once your basic look is complete, it’s time to move on to eyeshadow. Follow the steps below to achieve a look that’s red carpet-ready! 1. Use a flat eyeshadow brush to apply a shimmery ivory shade over the entire lid. I used the shade labeled #1 in the diagram above from the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude 1. 2. Apply a light brown shade (shade #2 above) with a fluffy eyeshadow brush to the crease of your eyelid. 3. Use a small pencil brush to apply a deep brown eyeshadow (shade #3 above) to the outer corners of your eyes. 4. Use the brush from step #1 to apply the same shimmery ivory eyeshadow to the inner third of your eye. 5. Apply the Covergirl Intensify Me Liquid Eyeliner in black to your upper eyelid in a thick winged shape. 6. For the ultimate lashes, layer two coats of Covergirl Supersizer onto your lashes for extreme volume and follow-up with one coat of Covergirl Clump Crusher to add length and remove any clumps. 7. Apply the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Oyster Glow to the inner corner of your eye to brighten your eyes and add the perfect subtle highlight. Once your eye makeup is complete, you’ll just need to add the brightest red lipstick to you own to finish your old school Hollywood face. As much as I love Taylor Swift’s music, I love her famous red lips even more! If you want to get T-Swift’s signature red pout, use her trusty lip combo of Covergirl Lip Perfection Lip Liner in Passion followed by Covergirl Colorlicious Lipstick in Hot. This classy look is definitely worthy of any Hollywood event, but it’s equally beautiful for a 4th of July party with your friends!Look #2: Wild Child
If you’d like to try out a bold look that’s a little less traditional, try out this Wild Child tutorial! It features bronze eyes with a pop of bold blue eyeliner and classic nude lips. Whether you’re headed to an outdoor concert or a beach party with friends, this trendy blue look is guaranteed to turn heads. The Wild Child eye look is all about accenting a bronze smoky eye with the boldest blue liner that you can find. It’s perfect for hot summer days, and the bright blue looks amazing against tanned skin! 1. Start the look by applying a light brown shade from the L’Oreal Paris Colour Riche La Palette Nude 1 palette to the crease of your eyelid. 2. Add intensity to the look by creating a winged liner look with the Covergirl Intensify Me Liquid Eyeliner in black. 3. Highlight your lashes with a two coats of Covergirl Supersizer for volume followed by one coat of Covergirl Clump Crusher to remove any clumps. 4. Use a flat eyeshadow brush to liberally apply a shimmery bronze eyeshadow (shade #1) over the entire eyelid. 5. Use a fluffy blending brush to apply a deep charcoal brown eyeshadow (shade #2) into the crease of your eyelid. 6. Use a flat brush to apply a medium gold or khaki shade (shade #3 above) to the inner one third of your eye. 7. Line the lower eyelid with NYX Slide On Pencil in Azure for a pop of color. The Wild Child look is all about the eyes, so choose a simple nude shade to finish your look. I love how the NYX Butter Gloss in Vanilla Cream Pie adds the perfect amount of pink to your lips without distracting from the bold eyeliner. Whether you decide to go Ultra Glam or full-on Wild Child this Independence Day, you’re guaranteed to win the award for Best Makeup at your 4th of July event!
