What’s Your Secret Language Name?
Who doesn't love a good personality test? Admit it, you totally tore out the quizzes in your favorite magazine as a teen to see why your crush didn't like you or who your celebrity husband would be. Even as an adult, I still love seeing someone else's perspective on my personality. I'll admit that while I love reading about aspects of my personality, I'm not the biggest fan of astrology. It seems a little hokey to me, and the readings are always so vague . I'm a details kind of girl. I need to know everything- not just mysterious details.
As a psychology major, I've probably taken every personality inventory out there, and I found a new site online that has quickly become a favorite. It's called The Secret Language, and the results are based on a 40-year empirical study including more than 20,000 people. As an interesting twist, they organized the participants by their birthday, and distilled their personality traits into a Secret Language Name for that day. I've already looked up my Secret Language Name as well as a few of my close friends and family members. If you want to look your own profile, just go to SLN.me and enter your birthday. You can also look up relationships based on each member's birthday. Super fun!
Ok, I know you want to see my results. I'm actually impressed at how accurate the results are! I might just be distracted by the positive accolades in the description, but even the negative descriptions stand out to me as being pretty spot on.
Justice is a major theme in the lives of those born on October 5. Generally guarding the truth, as they see it, they will do what they can to first expose and then oppose unfairness, corruption or oppression. Not satisfied with this, however, they will often persuade friends, family members or colleagues to help put the situation right. Those born on this day can be found working on a personal level or at the highest echelons of society with the same determination. In like manner, October 5 people insist on fair treatment for themselves and will not tolerate insults to their dignity. Indeed, the concept of fair play occupies such a central place in their speech and thought that they may be accused at times of using the cause of justice for their own personal advancement. This may or may not be true, but in fairness, those born on this day generally think of the cause first and their own wishes second.
They can even go too far in this direction through self-sacrifice and self-denial, giving up what is most pleasurable to them for the sake of their ideals and the well-being of others. They must moderate such behavior because sooner or later their personal needs and wants will assert themselves, and they may be forced to resign from their position or cut back drastically on the responsibilities they take on, leaving those who have grown dependent on them stranded. October 5 people are at heart life-oriented and fun-loving. When functioning in a healthy way, they manage to get tremendous personal satisfaction out of leading or contributing to a team. The ultimate kick for them is the gratitude on the faces of those who benefit from their work, and in this respect they are as interdependent as anyone else, perhaps even more so. Thus although they may appear to be strong, independent types, they are in fact somewhat needy and hungry for appreciation. They generally show little interest in causes that do not directly involve people, for it is the human element which is vital to their outlook and work.
Rarely do October 5 people meld with their environment, despite their need to immerse themselves in human activities. Often they will occupy a position for which they would objectively seem completely unsuited, like someone who has to wear the wrong uniform. However, when highly successful, October 5 people may actually redefine the public’s image of the role which they play, so powerful are their social instincts. Even those with only a modest degree of success tend to function in a unique way that raises a few eyebrows but gets the job done. October 5 people must be very careful to avoid ego trips where their personality becomes a central focus, ultimately superseding their ideals and original purpose. Also their criticism and judgment of others, particularly of what went on before they came on the scene, cannot be allowed to get out of hand. Thus October 5 people must not only form their principles in opposition to what they despise but mold a constructive vision of life as they wish it to be.
In addition to your birthdate description, you also get personality breakdowns for the week, month, and season you were born in. I honestly had so much fun going through the whole personality assessment.
I also looked up my husband's profile just for fun! I didn't include the whole description, but there were some great points in his Secret Language profile too. I'd say that overall my result was more indicative of my true personality, but there were elements of my husband's Secret Language Name that fit him perfectly. He is definitely entertaining, funny, charming, and preoccupied at time, but I don't think that he is undependable or insensitive. In addition to the basic personality assessment, they also break down your personality regarding health, relationships, and other categories, and the health assessment for my husband was exactly like his personality.
We had a great time discussing our results and looking up our friends and family! It's a really fun activity to do with friends, or if you just have a few spare minutes to yourself. Be sure to look up your Secret Language Name on SLN.me and let me know what you think! I'd love to find out if your results were as accurate as mine!
