The Dream Bed + Tips to Help You Sleep Better
There are few things more important to your physical and emotional health than getting a good night’s sleep, so today I’m partnering with to showcase my amazing new mattress and share my top tips to help you sleep better. About 18 months ago, my husband and I received a wonderful mattress that helped us sleep restfully each night, but then we had to move. When we moved to our current location, we unfortunately weren’t able to take our mattress with us. We weren’t sure how long we’d be staying in our new home, so we opted to replace our mattress with an ultra-discounted shopping find. That decision was a big mistake. Over the past year and half, we’ve both had trouble sleeping, and we’d wake up feeling miserable. Thankfully that’s no longer the case. Today I’m sharing my top tips to help you get sleep better, including our new mattress from .
Create A Cozy and Comfortable Sleeping Environment
I know from first-hand experience that it’s difficult to get a good night’s sleep when your uncomfortable mattress causes you to toss and turn all night long. When we were sleeping on our old mattress, my husband and I would constantly wake up in the morning feeling overheated, achy, and exhausted. Thankfully, those days are long gone. We recently received the Cool Dream mattress from , and it was love at first sleep. Once your comfy mattress is in place, don’t forget to pick out soft sheets, warm blankets, and fluffy pillows. I like to have an overwhelming amount of decorative pillows on your bed, but just do what works for you and your family!

Once you’ve moved your mattress to the correct room, simply cut the protective wrap open, place the mattress on your bed frame, and unroll it.
mattresses are far less expensive than the luxury mattresses we were considering, but they provide the same level of comfort and features. This mattress has a cool gel layer to keep you cool throughout the night, and the soft frame provides the perfect balance between bounce and firmness. My husband and I both have a tendency to get overheated while we sleep, but this mattress keeps our bodies at just the right temperature while we’re sleeping.
Since receiving our mattress, we’ve been sleeping like babies. Neither of us are morning people, but we’ve both had an easier time waking up each morning for work. Instead of waking up with back pain and headaches, we’re starting the day feeling relaxed and well-rested.
I’m blessed to have a safe place to sleep at night and a comfortable mattress to sleep on, but there are many people around the world who don’t have the same privileges. While I’m dreaming about a tropical vacation, there are children dreaming of a soft place to rest their head. wants to change those statistics, so they’ve pledged to donate a mattress to a person in need for every mattress purchased! Their “Buy a dream, give a dream” campaign can help you make the world a better place while you get better sleep. If you’re in the market for a new mattress, I highly recommend you check out !
Now that I’ve shared my thoughts on my new mattress and ‘s incredible business model, here are my top tips for getting a good night’s sleep.
Dim The Lights
It’s silly to think that your body could fall asleep in minutes when you go from sitting in a fully-lit room and looking at a bright iPhone screen to total darkness in only a few seconds. Your body’s sleep cycle takes cues from its physical environment, so it’s important to gently ease your body into a low-lit relaxing environment. A few hours before we go to sleep, I’ll turn off all of the non-essential lights in our home and dim the lights that need to stay on. As the night progresses, I’ll gradually dim the lights and turn off our devices. I find that lighting candles is an easy way to light a room without overwhelming your senses. I know it may seem like a small change, but it’s had a huge impact in how quickly I fall asleep at night.Develop A Bedtime Routine
Parents provide a bedtime routine for their children each night to lull them to sleep; however, adults tend to change their evening routine on a daily basis. When my schedule allows it, I try to follow a bedtime routine to slowly relax myself before going to sleep. After lowering the lights, I’ll hop in the shower, change into my pajamas, and jump into bed with a good book. I’m an avid reader, so I try to stay away from thrilling page-turners in the evening. Instead, I opt for inspirational or slow-moving stories that will distract me from the stresses of the day without raising my heart rate. Reading one or two chapters of a book each night helps to unwind, and it also trains my body to prepare itself for sleep. I swear my body knows that it’s time to go to sleep after reading for twenty minutes because my eyes always start to droop halfway through my second chapter every night.
Block out Distractions
Everyone has some sort of environmental factor that keeps them awake at night. Plan ahead for these distractions and create a battle plan. If you’re distracted by even the smallest amount of light, invest in a silky eye mask. If household noises keep you awake, try using a sound machine or wearing a pair of ear plugs. My husband and I both get overheated by Florida’s warm evening weather, so we have an overhead fan and the Cool Dream mattress from to keep us cool throughout the night. Again, these tips might seem like small changes, but sometimes the tiniest distractions can rob you of a good night’s sleep!
Ease Your Anxiety
My last tip for improving your sleep is to manage your anxiety and stress levels. I’ve found that reducing my caffeine intake and practicing relaxing techniques in the evening have significantly decreased my anxiety levels before bed. Focused breathing exercises, meditation, prayer, or positive affirmations are all great ways to relax your mind. If you’re not sure how to do those things, there are a variety of smartphone apps that can guide you through relaxation exercises. I hope these tips will help you rest a little more soundly tonight, but I’d love to hear your favorite tricks for lulling yourself to sleep. Please leave a comment with your nighttime routine or anything/everything that’s helped you sleep better.
