my easy outfit formula + sseko designs
Have you ever had one of those days where you want to look cute, but you don’t want to spend any time getting ready? Well, I have those days about four days a week. Just kidding! I actually have those days about seven days a week…lazy girl right here! For days when I don’t even have the patience to brush my hair or put on makeup, I’ve developed a go-to outfit formula. Jeans and a loose t-shirt with cute sandals, a fun handbag, a ponytail or topknot, sunglasses, and lipgloss. Every piece is chosen carefully. Why jeans? Well, then I don’t have to self-tan or shave (sad, but true). The loose t-shirt hides any problem areas, and the ponytail eliminates the need to spend any time on my hair. My sunglasses hide my undereye circles, and the lipgloss makes it look like I actually put on makeup. And there you go…five minutes to a cute and casual look! I used this formula for a recent casual date night at the park, and my favorite parts of the outfit were my Sseko Designs sandals and bangle!
Sseko Designs is a fair trade fashion company based out of Uganda that provides employment opportunities for marginalized women in East Africa. These women are learning a valuable trade and many of the employees are currently in college or have gone on to graduate from universities in Africa! I love supporting companies that empower women, so I knew that my Sseko ribbon sandals would become a quick favorite in my wardrobe. They’re cute and comfortable, but I like them even more knowing that the proceeds from these shoes will help a woman somewhere across the globe.
Sseko Designs makes a variety of fashion products, including classic metal bangles. Each bangle is personalized with the name of the one of the Sseko women. I love wearing this bangle and catching a glimpse of a name throughout the day. It makes me smile knowing that Maureen is making a better life for herself through her work at Sseko Designs.
On my date I wore the sandals in the classic tie design, but you can visit the Sseko Designs website to see dozens of different ways you can tie your sandals! My next design is definitely the bow sandal tying technique!
