Before I show you all the decor, I have to mention that I couldn’t have pulled off this party without Megan from Unique and Chic Creations. Her talent is unreal, and she created a custom Sophie La Giraffe-themed cake along with a coordinating smash cake and custom cookies with ease. If you’re in the Ocala or Central Florida areas, you’ll absolutely want to hire her for your next event! If you’re not nearby, you can also check out her Etsy shop here where she makes the most beautiful custom artwork, signs, and letters for children’s rooms (she made the sign in the first photo of this post too)! Ok, now on to Summer’s Sophie La Girafe in Paris party!
We decided to display the main dessert table in our home office because it has the most open space, and this white and gold dresser (available here and here) and gold circle mirror matched the color theme perfectly. Since the cake and cookies were SO beautiful, we kept the rest of the decor minimal and Parisian chic. White and crystal cake stands, a bronze Eiffel Tower, and of course, Sophie and all of her friends!

Summer may have been the true star of the party, but this stunning cake was a true showstopper. Megan from Unique and Chic Creations decorated this chocolate cake with chocolate ganache filling with gorgeous vanilla buttercream, fondant, a few faux cream roses, and of course, a hand-sculpted model of Sophie La Girafe herself! Summer was over-the-moon to see her favorite toy come to life, and she loved every last bite of the chocolate cake!
I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw these custom Sophie La Girafe first birthday cookies by Unique and Chic Creations (also on Etsy and Instagram) in person. The designs were so intricate, and they were as delicious as they were beautiful! Even though a year has passed, people STILL talk about the cake and cookies at Summer’s party! If you’re planning a birthday party for your child, I highly encourage you to seek out an experienced baker to make the cake and cookies. It made party planning SO much easier (especially since Summer and I were both sick the entire week leading up to the party), and the finished product was straight out of a magazine! I can’t recommend Unique and Chic Creations enough if you’re in the Ocala or Central Florida area!
Another fun decor element at the party was the display of Summer’s Eiffel Tower party favor boxes. We filled them with chocolate (Summer’s favorite) and gave them to each guest as they left the party. Party favors do NOT have to be expensive or fussy. These boxes take seconds to assemble, and you can easily fill them with inexpensive items like candy or small trinkets.
Summer loves all of Sophie La Girafe’s friends from the TV show and books, so we used her toys to decorate the dessert table and add character. You could also put these toys on the cake itself, and bonus, they double as gifts once the party is over! You can grab Gabin The Bear, Lazare The Cat, Josephine The Mouse, and Kiwi The Bird on sale here, and they’re also available on Amazon with free prime shipping.

In addition to our main dessert station, we had fun balloons scattered throughout the house including these gorgeous metallic pink heart balloons and a rose gold Happy Birthday balloon display. We mixed pink, rose gold, and white balloons throughout the party, and the finished result was just gorgeous. Be sure to pick up a spool of curling ribbon and an at-home helium tank before you party to blow up the balloons! We’ve had a great experience using this helium system. I’d recommend ordering it online and picking it up at Target or Walmart because they tend to sold out at a lot of locations.
First birthday parties don’t have to be over-the-top or incredibly expensive to be fun and festive. Other than ordering the custom cake and cookies, we threw together this Sophie La Girafe in Paris first birthday party in a few hours thanks to one big Amazon order a few days beforehand! We ordered take-out food for the adults at the party and called it a day. The party may have required minimal effort, but everyone had a fabulous time – including Summer!

Before we brought out the smash cake, it was time to change Summer out of her precious Paris-themed birthday outfit. The poor girl was teething like crazy, so both this dress and the onesie she changed into were completely covered with drool. Thankfully she didn’t notice and had the best time in both outfits!
No matter what you and your little one decide to wear for the big day, I highly recommend choosing a casual second outfit if one of the options is a bit fancy! Drool, cake, and all sorts of baby behavior makes a second outfit a necessity!

Speaking of her smash cake, Summer loved this adorable and ultra-girly smash cake by Unique and Chic Creations. As pretty as the cake is, it was even more delicious. Megan layered homemade vanilla cake with an insanely good strawberry cream cheese filling to make an out-of-this-world cake!
Summer was a bit timid at first, but she absolutely loved the cake after her first bite!
Summer’s first birthday party was a huge success, and I’m not sure how we’ll top the Sophie La Girafe in Paris theme for this year’s big event. We had such a wonderful time with our loved ones, and it was so fun to see Summer giggle with delights at all of the details. Her second birthday is less than two months away, so I’ll be sure to share all of the party details with you as I plan!
