After a long and stressful work week, I have a bad habit of spending the whole weekend in pajamas doing absolutely nothing, and I’ve decided it’s got to stop. Let me be clear: I am not downplaying the importance of Netflix binge sessions or pizza consumption, BUT it’s silly for me to live in one of the most beautiful places in the country and sit in my bed all weekend instead of enjoying the stunning weather. I’ve made it a priority to get out of the house and do something every single weekend. Whether it’s heading to the beach, enjoying brunch with friends, or going to Disney with my husband, I’m going to make the most of my free time in 2015.
Despite my idealistic goals for the year, I wake up every Saturday morning with absolutely no motivation to do anything other than hit the snooze button. To combat this bad habit, I’ve created a plan that surprisingly works. First, I bribe myself to get out of bed by promising myself some sort of fancy coffee/tea or Diet Coke. Once I finally get my lazy butt out of bed, I get dressed up. I know it sounds silly, but once I have my hair curled and my mascara on it seems silly to just sit around the house. The last step is to tell my husband we’re going on an adventure and force him to get into the car with me. It may sound crazy (and it probably is), but I think this 3-step plan is going to be my Saturday tradition for the rest of the year!
Last week, I put on my favorite red dress from Mint Julep Boutique (under $50!) and my new shoes from Lulu*s (only $22!), and I ordered Stephanie to go on a playdate with me! We wandered around our old Winter Park stomping grounds, and I enjoyed every single minute of our outing. The sun was shining bright, so I added my new Ray-Bans from Sunglasses Shop for our afternoon of shopping, girl talk, and avoiding photo-bombs from crazy teenagers. It was such a fun day, and I’m looking forward to more unplanned weekend adventures!
