Easy Pumpkin Spice Makeup Tutorial
When the clock strikes midnight on the first day of fall, women all around the world suddenly have one thing on their mind: pumpkin spice everything. Every year, I’m baffled by my body’s ability to change from craving bright summer sun and bikinis to crisp autumn air and pumpkin spice lattes in 24 hours flat. This year, my pumpkin spice mania has gone one step further – into my daily makeup routine.A few years ago, I would’ve never touched any orange-toned makeup, but now I can’t go a day without adding orange or red shades to my makeup look. These warm tones may seem intimidating, but they’re actually extremely flattering and will make blue and green eyes pop. Today I’m sharing an easy pumpkin spice makeup tutorial that can be worn day or night. I’m taking you through each and every step, so that you can recreate this gorgeous autumn look at home.
Step-By-Step Pumpkin Spice Makeup Tutorial
The key to any good makeup look is prepping your skin properly. Before I begin my makeup routine, I massage a light moisturizer into my skin and apply a hydrating lip balm across my lips.
The is a new favorite that’s the perfect pre-makeup lip treatment for fall. It has a light pumpkin pie scent, and the formula is smooth and intensely hydrating. I’ve been keeping one tube of this lip balm in my purse and one tube on my desk, and I have a feeling I’ll be going through a few more tubes by the end of the year. If you want to pick up a tube of this limited-edition lip balm, head to the Burt’s Bees side-cap in the Natural Beauty aisle at Target.
After prepping my face, I move onto evening out my skin tone. In the fall, I like using a luminous foundation like the with a to create a naturally glowing complexion. Then I’ll conceal my undereye circles and blemishes with a dab of , and I’ll set my face makeup with a light setting powder like the and the .
After I even out my skin tone, my face tends to look flat. I add dimension back into my face with a matte bronzer like the , and I brighten up my cheeks with a neutral blush shade such as the and a shimmering champagne highlight powder.
The key to adding natural dimension to your face is placing each product in the right spot. Bronzer should be applied around your hairline, underneath your cheekbones, and along your jawline to add a natural shadow to your skin. Then, smile into your mirror and place your blush on the apples of your cheeks and blend it up towards the top of your ear. To finish, use a fan brush to apply a highlight powder to the tops of your cheekbones, along the bridge of your nose, and on top of the cupid’s bow of your lips. This three-step process will make you look healthy and beautiful, and it’s creates the perfect base for today’s pumpkin spice-inspired eyeshadow look.
And now we’ve reached the fun part of the tutorial. It’s pumpkin spice time! The key to using orange shades in your makeup routine is choosing the right mix of colors. The features a beautiful combination of matte warm-toned eyeshadows, and the adds the perfect pop of rose gold shimmer.
Step 1: Apply a matte, orange-toned tan eyeshadow (second shade from the left in the ) to the crease of your eye with the large fluffy brush.
Step 2: Use a flat eyeshadow brush to press a matte, mid-toned orange eyeshadow (third shade from the left in the )onto the outer and inner third of your eye. Bright colors like this orange eyeshadow need to be built up slowly to ensure proper blending, so take your time and be patient. The finished look will be worth the effort!
Step 3: Once your orange eyeshadow is in place, use your finger to press a metallic rose gold pigment like the onto the center of your eyelid. This beautiful shimmer adds the perfect amount of spice to the pumpkin orange eyeshadow.
Step 4: Now that our base is in place, it’s time to re-emphasize the orange shade. Blend the matte, mid-toned orange eyeshadow from Step 2 (third shade from the left in the ) into the crease of your eyelid with a large, fluffy eyeshadow brush.
Step 5: For the finishing step, use a small pencil brush to apply the matte, orange-toned tan eyeshadow from Step 1 (second shade from the left in the ) along your lower lashline. This small step will make the whole look more cohesive, and it will really make blue and green eyes pop!
As always, I like to lightly fill in any gaps in my eyebrows with the and enhance my lashes with two coats of the CoverGirl LashBlast Super Sizer Mascara.
The finishing step and my favorite part of any makeup look is lipstick. For today’s pumpkin spice makeup look, I’m using the Burt’s Bees lipstick in Suede Splash. By this time, the has had enough time to work it’s magic on my lips, so my lipstick always goes on smoothly.
Burt’s Bees lipstick in Suede Splash is such a perfect nude lipstick for all of your fall makeup looks, and the moisturizing formula keeps my lips comfortable and smooth.
This pumpkin spice makeup look is beautiful paired with any fall outfit, and I really think you’ll be surprised with how flattering the orange shades can be. They brighten up your skin tone and really allow your eye color to stand out.
While this makeup look is beautiful on its own, it’s hard for me to say no to winged liner and fluttery false lashes. These two extra steps transform this makeup into a fun and flirty look for a night on the town with your friends – even if you are only going to meet up at the coffee shop and chat with them over a warm pumpkin spice latte.
And now you have yet another reason to fall in love with pumpkin spice. It’s delicious in coffee and candles and muffins, but the warm orange tones are also a great addition to your daily makeup routine. If you want to recreate this look at home, all of the products that I used can be found at Target. Happy pumpkin spice season!
