We’re Having Another Baby Girl!
WE’RE HAVING ANOTHER BABY! I cannot even begin to tell you how excited we are to welcome another baby girl into our family. Eighteen months ago, our hearts grew exponentially when we met our daughter Summer for the first time, and I have a feeling our hearts will be growing through another growth spurt as soon as we meet our second little one this August. Becoming a mother has been the most meaningful journey of my life, and I can’t wait to move into the second chapter of motherhood later this year.
We found out we were pregnant a few days before Christmas (after taking about 50 pregnancy tests over the previous weeks haha – but seriously, these tests are the best!), so we were able to share the good news with our entire family during our Christmas celebrations. It made my favorite time of the year even more magical, and I’m so thankful we were able to spend our last Christmas as a family of three knowing we will soon be a family of four. As soon as 2019 started, the full-on exhaustion kicked in, and I became a walking zombie who could barely keep her eyes open throughout the day. And then came everyone’s favorite pregnancy symptom, morning sickness AKA 24/7 sickness. Thankfully I’ve managed to have relatively mild morning sickness throughout both of my pregnancies, but I’m still so, SO happy to be in my second trimester and finally say goodbye to the constant nausea, extreme food aversions, dizziness, and constant exhaustion.

Along with the normal first trimester symptoms, it seems like my mama bear protective instincts also go into full-force during the first few weeks of pregnancy. As soon as I got a a positive pregnancy test, I literally didn’t want to do anything other than hold my little family tighter than ever before. I’m sure I’ll say it a dozen times in this post, but I am so grateful for my family and this pregnancy. I just wanted to soak in the moment and enjoy quality time with our loved ones (when I wasn’t nauseous or sleeping haha) before our world is rocked later this year with a little bundle of joy.
Now that the second trimester energy and nesting mode has officially kicked in, I am extremely motivated to get my normal life started again. I’m organizing every room in our house, decluttering every chance I get, and planning out the baby’s nursery. We were so busy searching for a house, packing up our house, and then moving into our new house during my last pregnancy that I never really got a chance to fully prepare for Summer’s arrival. Our house was a mess, we weren’t fully unpacked, and I’m fairly certain her crib wasn’t even assembled until a few days before her birth. This time around, I am determined to have the nursery finished and our home fully organized and prepared well before my due date. Let’s hope this energy surge lasts for the next six months!
I’m also thrilled to see Summer grow into a big sister. She’s only 18 months old right now, so she doesn’t really understand the concept yet, but she is very interested in my growing stomach these days haha. She is constantly patting my stomach, putting her favorite dot stickers on my belly for the baby, and giving me even more cuddles than usual. I just know she’s going to be so great with her little sister, and I’m so excited to see their relationship grow over the coming years. If you have any suggestions on books or toys to help toddlers prepare for a new baby, please let me know!
I’m normally a very private person when it comes to speaking about my family. In fact, I don’t think I’ve really shared too much about my last pregnancy, delivery, or time with Summer on the blog other than our last pregnancy announcement. Every time someone would suggest a post idea around pregnancy or motherhood, I just felt my protective walls go up for some reason.
While I’m still very protective of my family, I’ve gained so much from the motherhood community online over the past two years that I’m very inspired to write a bit more on the topic. Supportive online friends, blog posts and Instagram stories from other moms, and even Facebook mom groups have helped me get through some of the darkest times in my motherhood journey, and I honestly just want to help other moms if I can. If there’s any topic you think I should write about, please let me know. I have a few posts in the works, but I’d love to hear your ideas!
I’m so, so excited to watch our baby girl grow over the next six months. Baby girl is due exactly one week before her big sister’s birthday, and I cannot wait to meet her.
