Affordable Kitchen Decor Ideas: My Kitchen Mini-Makeover Part Two {Delta Inspired Living}
A few weeks ago, I shared the exciting news that I was re-doing my kitchen and getting a new Delta Touch2O faucet. Well, like any home decor enthusiast would do, I’ve been doing a little bit of online window shopping…or maybe a lot.
The inspiration for the entire project started with my new Delta Touch2O Cassidy Kitchen Faucet in Arctic Stainless (top middle picture in the collage above). I knew that I wanted a kitchen that was not too modern or too traditional, so the Cassidy faucet was the perfect faucet to start my project. The sleek lines and brushed silver are classic. Well, I started pinning my little heart away, and I quickly saw a pattern emerge: white cabinets, fun backsplash tiles, and colorful accessories.
When I first started planning this project, I was a bit afraid that my budget wouldn’t allow me to accomplish the type of mini-makeover I dreamed about; however, my inspiration board reassured me that little changes can make a big impact on the overall feel of a room.
Here are a few of the easy and budget-friendly makeover ideas that I hope to implement in my kitchen’s mini-makeover!
Paint the Walls
Buying a can of paint is really not that expensive, and painting your entire kitchen should only take a few hours if you have a friend or two to help with the process. Turn on your favorite music, order some takeout, and make it into a fun activity. Whether you paint one wall or the entire room, the splash of color will completely change the feel of the room and won’t hurt your wallet!
Re-Purpose Accessories You Already Own
Go through your closets, rooms, and garage to find any accessories that might add a pop of color or a touch of whimsy to your kitchen. I saw a fried online go through her china collection and found that she had five or six beautiful antique plates that weren’t being used because they weren’t part of a matching set. She hung them up on the wall, and it adds so much character and history to her kitchen. If you don’t find anything that matches your vision, see if you can paint items you already own to match your color palette or visit a few garage sales to find affordable treasures of your own!
Add An Accent Wall or Piece
Use the largest chunk of your money to get one great accent for the room. Whether it’s a specialty painted wall mural, a fancy backsplash, or an exciting new faucet, find something that speaks to you and will enhance the overall look of the kitchen. It’s easy to look past small details that aren’t incredible if you have at least one show-stopping feature to focus on. If I had more money in my budget, I’d definitely invest in replacing my cabinets. I’m currently dreaming of classic white cabinets that would create a bright and clean canvas for my colorful accessories!
Add Life to The Room With Flowers
Look in every single home decor magazine, and I guarantee you they’ve added at least one vase of flowers to every room. If you’re lucky you can pick them out of your own garden, but even affordable flowers from the grocery store make a huge difference in the feel of your home if you’re having guests over. Adding fresh flowers to any room bring energy, color, and of course a beautiful aroma.
Redecorating any space can be tough at first, but in my experience it’s much easier to start planning once you have an item to inspire you. My Delta faucet had sleek lines with a classic design that inspired me to create a kitchen with clean lines and fun pops of color. Let me know what pieces inspire you in your home, and be sure to check out the rest of my inspiration on my Inspired Living Pinterest board.
