A Smartphone Is A Girl’s Best Friend
Being your own boss has its perks. It's nice to create my own schedule, but my favorite part of working for myself is being in control of the type of work that I do each day. Of course there are business details that need to be handled each day, but I can change my activities on an hour-to-hour basis. If I'm feeling particularly eloquent, I can sit down and write a few posts. If the sun is shining and the birds are chirping, I can spend a few hours outdoors capturing photographs for my content. If I feel like staying in bed and wearing pajamas, I can work on social media. The key to my flexibility is having the right business tools to create a mobile office. As long as I have access to the internet on my computer or smartphone, I'm good to go.
While I love the flexibility of the blogger lifestyle, my favorite part of the job is that it's my business and my brand. Unlike previous jobs I've worked in the past, every detail of my business is under my name, tone, and signature aesthetic. If you scroll through my Instagram feed, you'll notice my style preferences quickly: feminine design mixed with lots of playful details. I like anything and everything pink, sparkly, and sweet, and I just can't resist a good sunset...or macaron shot. I carry over the same look into my home office. My shelves are stocked with pink boxes, and my laptop has a black and white polka dot cover and mint green keypad. I've always wanted to customize my smartphone, but up until now the only option was to purchase a cute case. That's why I nearly fell over with delight when I saw that there's a new smartphone from Motorola that lets you customize everything from the phone's technical features to its exterior design.
The Design Process
To create your custom Moto X phone, simply head over to the MotoMaker website. The design studio allows you to choose the front, back, and accent colors along with the amount of memory storage you'll need. You can also choose your own wallpaper and add a laser-engraved custom message or name to the back of your phone.
While I was designing a phone on the website, I was tempted to opt for the wood or leather custom backs ($25 extra), but I knew that I'd regret my decision if I didn't choose a classic pink. I added a white front and metallic silver accents to create a phone that's 100% me.
I would definitely upgrade to the 32GB memory storage because I always have thousands of photos and videos on my phone. It never hurts to have a little bit of extra room for your favorite music too. I also love that Motorola gives you the option to add a laser-engraved message to the back of your phone!
While the custom design process is really fun, the technical features of the phone are pretty great too. The Moto X features a 5.2-inch HD display with a curved frame that fits perfectly in your hand. You can name your phone whatever you'd like and use the name to ask it questions. The Moto X is also aware of your surroundings and will adjust to your preferences for that area or activity, so you won't have to worry about messing with your phone while you're in the car, in a meeting, or going to sleep! The Moto X also has a few features that are a must for bloggers like me. The Best Shot feature takes several pictures before and after you actually snap the picture, and it will choose your optimal shot. It also organizes your photos by event and allows you to create a video reel with music! One of my other favorite features of the Moto X is that you can use voice control on apps like Facebook, Twitter, Pandora, and Google Play. I spend hours on Twitter each day for my blog, so this feature would make tweeting so much quicker.
If you're looking for cute and customized phone with solid technical features, the Moto X might be a good fit for you! It's also the perfect gift idea. Imagine how excited your family member or friend will be when they find out that they're getting a new phone, and they get to customize the design and features! Plus, you'll get all of the features of a premium smartphone for a lower price. You can get one for yourself for $99 with a two-year contract or $499 without a contract. If you're looking for a gift that your loved one is guaranteed to love, head to the Moto Maker website and check out the new Moto X phone!
