My Mom is A Genius. {Words of Wisdom on Life, Beauty, and Hydration}
I have been so blessed to be surrounded by incredible women my entire life. I have the best mom in the entire world, three amazing grandmothers, a wonderful aunt (the lovely Michelle’s momma!), and countless other female family members and friends that have shared their pearls of wisdom with me over the years.
Did I mention that my momma is gorgeous?
I could right a book with all of the lessons I’ve learned from my mother, but every time I begin a project I hear her words in my head…
My mom always stressed the importance of doing things to the best of your ability. Whether I was taking a dance lesson, going to an audition, or studying for my math test, my mom encouraged me to do everything with my whole heart and energy. In addition, I had to see things through to the end- not when things got tough or I didn’t like it anymore, but until the end of my commitment. I’ve applied these lessons to my roles as a daughter, sister, worker, friend, and wife. This simple but powerful saying has been passed down through three generations, and one day in the future I will pass it on to my children.
Not all of my mom’s words of wisdom were so serious, though. She has plenty of straight-forward and simple advice on beauty and fashion that I was resistant to as a child and teenager, but I am seriously listening to now. She reminded me that the keys to maintaining your appearance were nearly all preventative: eat well and exercise, wear sunscreen, moisturize like crazy, and drink as much water as you can. Now I’ll admit that I have a bit of a Diet Coke habit (another thing my momma passed down to me), but I have been making a huge effort to drink several cups of water each day. I cannot stress importance of hydration, and how much better I feel and look when I drink enough water.
