July Beauty Favorites
I don’t know about you, but I love favorites posts. They’re my favorite blog posts and YouTube videos to read/watch each month, so I’ve decided that I’m going to do a whole favorites series each month on my blog ala Jen. I’ll be doing beauty, fashion, and life/random favorites each month, so get excited!
And now onto the beauty favorites of the month…
: I’ve had this primer for months, but I never really used it that often in LA due to the dry climate. Now that I’m living in Florida’s nearly 100% humidity, The Porefessional is a must. While I still prefer Hourglass Miracle Veil as an all-over primer, I love the Porefessional for keeping my T-zone as matte as possible and making my ever-growing pores disappear. It’s really sort of magical how it blurs your pores away. I like to keep this mini tube in my purse for on-the-go touch-ups.
Benefit Hello Flawless Oxygen Wow Foundation in Champagne: This foundation’s medium coverage maintains the perfect balance between covering your flaws and letting your good skin show through. The satin finish is lovely, and I tend to get compliments on my skin when I wear this foundation…and who doesn’t like getting more compliments?
Wet-N-Wild Reserve Your Cabana: This powder is a phenomenal slightly glow-y but NOT shimmery or glittery highlighter. It is basically the exact same thing as , and did I mention this highlighter only costs $3.99. I use it to highlight my cheekbones and as a subtle eyeshadow. Go get it.
Mia Mariu Blush in Maria Bonita c/o: Mia Mariu is a new cosmetics company that sells its products via individual sales people (kind of like Mary Kay), and I was extremely interested to try their products after reading good reviews on a few blogs. Mia Mariu kindly sent me this blush, and oh my goodness, it was love at first sight. It’s literally my dream blush. It’s the perfect light pink with a slight sheen, and it gives you a natural flushed look that’s perfect for summer. It’s pigmented, blends like a dream, and the packaging is fantastic. I am SO obsessed with this blush that I’ll definitely be looking into the other colors in the line.
: After seeing Lisa rave about this liner for months, I went and purchased it for myself and another for my mom. All Natural is about half a shade darker than my natural lip color, and it’s the perfect natural nude liner. I apply a light line to my lips, blend it in with my fingers to avoid a tell-tale line, and add my favorite nude lipstick or lipgloss for the perfect, non-dead looking nude lip. Even if you don’t need this shade, I highly recommend checking out this line of liners! They’re incredibly cheap and great quality.
: This pale peachy-pink has been my go-to shade for the past few months. It adds some natural color to your lips without going overboard, but it’s so much easier to wear than a true nude.
Revlon Super Lustrous Lip Gloss in Peach Petal: Sadly, this lipgloss was recently discontinued. I managed to pick up a tube from my local CVS (for 75% off!), so if you see a tube in stock- buy it before it’s gone forever! I’ve seen this gloss compared toand MAC Underage, and it’s a beautiful creamy peach nude gloss that’s great on its own or layered over any shade of lipstick. I like adding this light color to the center of my lips to help my lips look bigger.
It Cosmetics Vitality Lip Flush Anti-Aging Lipstick Stain in Je Ne Sais Quoi: OMG. So Emily was right. This product blows my mind. In the tube, it looks like a clear generic lip balm, but it’s one of the greatest lip products I’ve ever tried. Once applied to the lips, the clear formula transforms into a gorgeous mid-toned pink/berry color, and get this…it stains your lips all day long…and it’s incredibly moisturizing. I cannot wait to track down the other colors in this line, and I am interested in trying other products from It Cosmetics now!
MAC Eyeshadow in Woodwinked: After drooling over my Naked and Naked 2 palettes for literally a year, I am forcing myself to use the other eyeshadows in my collection. Luckily, I’ve rediscovered a few old favorites. The lovely Stephanie actually bought me Woodwinked and Phloof for my birthday several years ago, and they continue to be some of my favorite eyeshadow shades. Woodwinked is the perfect summer bronzey-brown. Wear it all over your eye or blended into the crease.
Jordana Best Lash Extreme Volumizing Mascara: Holy Grail. Seriously. For $2.99, this mascara makes my albino puny lashes look nearly like false lashes. If you like dramatic lashes, do yourself a favor and buy a tube of this stuff. I find it to be incredibly lengthening and volumizing, and it helps my eyelashes stay curled all day.
MAC Eyeshadow in Phloof: Another long-time favorite. Wear Phloof all over your eye for a brightening effect or as an under-the-brow and/or inner corner highlight to make your eyes look bigger and pop!
Body Drench Quick Tan Gradual Self Tanner in Medium: Another recommendation from Lisa, so of course I am in love with it. The tube says gradual self tanner, but it really builds color quickly. Of all the self-tanning products I’ve ever used, this lotion has the least offensive smell. My husband has the most sensitive nose ever, and he never notices that I’ve applied this self-tanner! It builds a really natural tan color- not orange at all- and the lotion is very moisturizing.
: I mentioned this top coat in my Neon Nails Tutorial, and I’m still head over heels in love. How did I ever use other top coats? Seche Vite is incredibly shiny and creates a gel-like appearance to your nails. It helps nail polish dry quickly and will extend the life of your polish.
: This base coat is the best. Not only does it help your polish stay on longer, but the health of my nails has improved AND it looks great on its own- even without any polish on top.
: I’ve had way too many bad eyebrow waxing experiences, and I hate plucking. My mom actually used to buy me these razors when I was younger, but I completely forgot about them until recently. These super cheap razors allow you to easily shape your eyebrows and get rid of your unibrow with absolutely no pain. They’re also incredibly inexpensive, and they can be used to get rid of any other facial hair as well.
