Easy Fall Drugstore Makeup Tutorial
Thanks to Target for sponsoring today’s post!
With Labor Day just around the corner, it’s time to celebrate the end of the summer season and get ready for fall! Even though I’m ready to start embracing the fall makeup trends, the weather isn’t quite cool enough to break out the dark lips and ultra-chiseled cheekbones. Not to mention I’d like to spend as much time as possible in bikinis and sundresses while the sun is still out! Today I’m sharing an easy makeup tutorial that works for summer and fall. The subtle bronze and plum is so much fun, and my rosy lipstick is definitely going to become one of your new favorite products. Keep reading to see how to re-create this pretty look using Pixi Beauty products from Target!
PRIME AND CONCEAL
Whether it’s summer or fall, I like to use products that give my face a healthy glow without looking shiny, and these products from Pixi do just that. This foundation routine is perfect if you like a natural-looking finish that covers up your skin’s imperfections without hiding your skin!
After my morning moisturizer is completely absorbed, I use my fingers to rub a small amount of the Pixi Flawless Beauty Primer all over my face. It’s filled with all sorts of stuff that’s good for your skin, and the peach-toned formula gives my skin a subtle boost of brightness and luminosity.
My skin doesn’t have too much discoloration, so I like to use the lightest foundation that I possibly can for the day’s event. The Pixi Illuminating Tint & Conceal in Bare Glow is such a cool product. One end contains a tinted moisturizer to even out skin tone, and the other side features a stick concealer to cover any blemishes or redness. I like to use my fingertips to smooth the tinted moisturizer across my face, and I spot conceal where I feel like I need extra coverage. The concealer easily blends into your skin, and it matches the shade of the tinted moisturizer perfectly.
And now for the dramatic part of the tutorial. I have bad undereye circles – like really bad undereye circles. They’re hereditary, and they’re a giant pain in the butt to cover up. A few years ago, a makeup artist kindly told me the secret to hiding my dreaded dark circles: a peach-toned concealer. Peach counteracts the darkness and leaves your eyes looking bright and well-rested. There aren’t many drugstore concealers in this magical shade except for the Pixi Correction Concentrate in Brightening Peach. It’s only $12, and it’s pretty magical. Just look at my before and after in this picture! I like to apply the concealer with my fingertips to warm up the product and allow it to melt into my skin. I use it on my undereye circles, but it’s also a great eyeshadow primer on your eyelids. If you have dark circles, this concealer is going to change your entire makeup game!
BRONZE AND BRIGHTEN
My skin tends to get lighter from summer to fall, so I like to switch to a more subtle bronzer. The Pixi Beauty Bronzer + Kabuki Brush in Subtly Suntouched subtly warms up your complexion, and it has a very light shimmer that looks beautiful on your cheekbones! I usually use a large fluffy brush to apply my bronzer around my face and underneath my cheekbones and jawline, but the included kabuki brush works well too!
DEEPEN AND DEFINE
Once my face is complete, it’s time to move into fun part: eyes and lips! The Pixi Mesmerizing Mineral Palette in Plum Quartz might be the perfect transitional eye makeup for the end of summer into the beginning of fall. It contains a mix of golden and plum tones, and I may or may not have gasped out loud when I saw it on display in Target. Yes, I realize that I’m a total makeup nerd, but it’s just SO beautiful!
To create my eye look, I used a flat brush to press the third shade from the bottom (a mid-toned bronze with a hint of pink) over my entire eyelid. Then I used a large fluffy brush to smoke out the look with the second shade from the bottom of the palette (deep plum brown) and deepen the look. This shade is seriously so stunning, so I couldn’t resist using a pencil brush to apply the same shade to my lower lash line. To define my eyes, I used the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen in Bronze Beam on my upper and lower lash lines, and I applied two coats of the Pixi Large Lash Mascara.
MOISTURIZE AND MIST
I don’t like my makeup to look dry or powdery, so I always like to use a setting mist. The Pixi Makeup Fixing Mist is great for fall because it’s slightly hydrating, and a few spritzes smooths your makeup and creates a soft-focus finish. It also helps make your makeup last longer! As much as I love the other products, the Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balm in Natural Rose might be my favorite product featured in this look. The Pixi Shea Butter Lip Balms are less like lip balm and more like a moisturizing lipstick, and I LOVE the formula. The Natural Rose shade gives your lips a neutral pink tint that matches everything. I’ve already bought 3 shades, but I wouldn’t be surprised if my collection grows over the next few weeks!
