Best Natural Bath Products for Babies
I try my best to be a no-drama mama. I try my best to keep my anxiety in control, and I just take each day as it comes. I don’t anticipate problems, but I deal with them as they arise. For example, when I was pregnant, I honestly didn’t think twice about what type of bath products my daughter would use. I tend to think kids are more resilient than people think, so I just figured we’d use whatever we received as gifts at our baby shower or whatever was on sale that week at Target. And that’s exactly what we did at the beginning, and it was absolutely fine for a while. But then my daughter started to develop mild to moderate eczema. I honestly can’t blame her skin issues on the bath products alone because it may have been linked to several things; however, the easiest thing we could change in our routine was our bath product regimen.
I searched the internet and every Facebook group I could find for the best gentle bath products for babies, and time and time again, I saw mamas saying how a few brands absolutely saved their baby’s skin. I immediately placed a big order for a bunch of different products, and I started testing them to see which ones made a difference and which ones didn’t. The results were pretty clear. Within a few days of changing Summer’s bath products, her skin cleared up and returned to its natural baby-soft state. No eczema, no dry patches, and no red spots. Again, I’m sure there were multiple factors involved, but I really do think these products made and continue to make a difference in my daughter’s skin.
I’ll be sharing ALL of my favorite baby products later this weekend, but today I wanted to share a few of the bath products that truly made a big difference in Summer’s skin. Most of the products featured are organic and all-natural brands with clean ingredients; however, I’ll also be sharing a few non-natural alternative products with you that are less expensive and letting you know the pros/cons of each product. You guys know I always keep it real, but I know that as a mama, you want to be extra-protective of your baby. We’ve tested almost all of these products for months, and I truly, truly believe in these brands. I will make a note on the two products that are new to us. Keep reading to see the best natural bath products for babies!
The Best Natural Bath Products for Babies
Natural Body Washes for Babies
Young Living Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo (24% off if you’re a – get details here)
PROS: gentle tear-free formula, 100% plant-based and made with clean and safe ingredients, non-irritating, smells AMAZING, a little goes a long way
CONS: Not cheap, more expensive if you don’t get the Young Living member wholesale price, strong fragrance (not artificial, though),
So you already know I am OBSESSED with the way the entire Seedlings line smells, so I obviously love the scent of the Young Living Seedlings Baby Wash & Shampoo. I am someone who has always thought she hated the smell of lavender, but it turns out I only hate the smell of artificial lavender. This body wash uses lavender, coriander, bergamot, ylang ylang, and geranium essential oils as its fragrance base, so there are no artificial fragrances added. It has a gentle formula that doesn’t dry out Summer’s skin, and it’s kept her skin free of any irritations or redness. Plus, I’m a big fan of the pump packaging. This stuff is AWESOME.
I would definitely recommend this body wash and shampoo! The price is a bit steep for baby wash, but I’ve honestly been shocked by how little product I actually need to use each time. Because I know this will last a very long time, I feel 100% comfortable with the price – especially since I know it has high-quality essential oils in it. This body wash is our absolute favorite, and we will repurchase it over and over again. 100% worth the money in my opinion! You can also get 24% off if you’re a – get details here.
Beautycounter Baby Gentle All-Over Wash
PROS: Extremely gentle, all-natural and clean ingredients, unscented, non-irritating, EWG score of 1
CONS: Not cheap, Packaging is just OK
The Beautycounter Baby Gentle All-Over Wash is a great gentle body wash. It’s unscented and made with clean and safe ingredients, and the formula won’t sting your baby’s eyes or dry out their skin. It is not the cheapest product, but like almost all of the products mentioned in today’s post, a little goes a long way -especially since your baby’s body is so little. We’ve used this body wash for five months, and our bottle still isn’t empty! Of course, we’ve alternated between two other body washes in the past few months, BUT we exclusively used this body wash for three months.
Overall, I will absolutely repurchase this body wash when we have another baby. I personally prefer body washes with a fragrance, BUT I think it’s probably ideal for newborns and small babies to use a fragrance-free body wash since their noses and skin are so delicate. Once this package runs out, I’ll probably stick with the Seedings body wash because I love the scent; however, I will DEFINITELY repurchase the next time I have a baby! It is perfect for newborns! I would 100% recommend this body wash and think it’s worth the price because it lasts so long.
Natural Baby Lotions
Tubby Todd Natural Dream Cream (Click here to get 10% off your first purchase.)
PROS: Heavenly scent, extremely moisturizing, functional packaging, soothes rashes, itchy skin, and dry patches, functional packaging
CONS: not cheap
The Tubby Todd Dream Cream is AMAZING. It’s extremely moisturizing, and I give this product and an ointment from Tubby Todd that I’ll mention later almost all of the credit for relieving Summer’s eczema. The reason why I think this product in particular did most of the work is because I had eczema on my hands at the same time Summer did, and every night after I applied her lotion, I’d rub the remainder onto my hands. Within days, my once bleeding hands were completely healed.
It is a very thick formula, but it’s not greasy at all. And don’t even get me started on the scent…it’s SO good. A light minty fragrance that smells good enough to eat. Plus, it’s made with natural and safe ingredients. I don’t think I will ever be without this product. It’s not just for babies. It’s perfect for kids and adults of all ages. Because it’s so thick, you may not need to use it everyday, but it’s amazing to have around.
I would highly recommend this product to anyone who needs an intensive moisturizer. Absolutely worth every penny, and like I’ve already mentioned with the other products, a little bit goes a LONG way. I will repurchase this product forever and ever. (24% off if you’re a – get details here)
PROS: Heavenly scent, 100% plant-based, clean and safe ingredients, sinks into your skin like a dream, very moisturizing but still lightweight, non-greasy, functional packaging
CONS: Not cheap, more expensive if you’re not a Young Living member, strong natural fragrance
Ok, the is another major winner. I am in LOVE with this stuff and use it on myself just as often as I use it on Summer. The formula is so dreamy. It’s extremely moisturizing, but it sinks into your skin perfectly and doesn’t leave behind a greasy or sticky feel. It’s a much thinner consistency than the Dream Cream, but it’s absolutely perfect for everyday use. I love that it’s made with all-natural ingredients, but I love the formula even more!
As I’ve mentioned with all of the other products, you really only need a small amount of this product, so one tube will last quite a while. I’ve used this on Summer’s entire body almost every day for several months now, and the tube still seems full. It is not the cheapest product out there, but you can get a 24% off discount if you become a (get details here). This lotion was one of the first Young Living products I ever bought, and I’ve now purchased the entire Seedlings line because I’m such a fan of the scent and formulas! Love, love, love this product!!
P.S. I have already repurchased this lotion for Summer AND for myself haha!
Natural Balms and Ointments for Babies
Tubby Todd Natural All Over Ointment (Click here to get 10% off your first purchase.)PROS: Extremely moisturizing, soothing formula, can be used on almost anything (cradle cap, diaper rash, cuts, burns, dry patches), fragrance-free, clean and safe ingredients, can be used on all ages, a little bit goes a long way, versatile product
CONS: not cheap, small package
I’ve only tried two Tubby Todd products, but man, they are good. This all-over ointment can used on basically any type of skin irritation, and it works magic. It’s a very thick and very moisturizing formula, but it doesn’t have a sticky texture. We used this to spot treat Summer’s eczema patches underneath her lotion with GREAT success. It’s also amazing as an intensive hand cream. I literally put this stuff on anything – any red spot, any dry spot, any irritation, and it works like a charm.
I would HIGHLY suggest adding this product to your home’s medicine cabinet. It will basically make any skin ailment better. It is a very small tub of product, but you honestly need such a tiny amount that it’s worth the money. We’re almost done with ours because I use it all the time and used to slather Summer’s entire body with it when her eczema was really bad. You can use my referral link here to get 10% off your first purchase.
PROS: Very moisturizing, convenient packaging, clean and safe ingredients, EWG score of 1, versatile product
CONS: not cheap
Thewas by far one of the top recommended products to me online. I has the texture of soft but solid coconut oil, and it instantly melts into a oil when you apply it to your skin. I love that this product is packaged in a tube versus a tub because it makes the application process completely mess-free. We’ve used this balm to treat everything from eczema to dry skin to cradle cap to diaper rash, and it always does a great job. I’ve also used it as intensive hand cream with great success. Of all it’s uses, I think I like it best as a diaper cream for babies, but it’s really great for dry skin too. I will probably ALWAYS keep a tube of this stuff in Summer’s room!
Natural Baby Oils
Beautycounter Baby Soothing Oil
PROS: Unscented, clean and safe ingredients, EWG score of 1, very moisturizing, functional packaging, versatile product
CONS: not cheap, oily texture (but sinks in well)
I love, love, love this oil. I definitely give a big chunk of the credit for clearing up Summer’s skin. I like to use this underneath of or in place of her lotion when she needs extra moisture (or when she had tons of dry patches and eczema), and I also like to put a teeny bit in her hair after I wash it. Basically I apply the oil to her body, then rub the remainder into my hands, and then rub it over her hair. It’s a body oil, so of course it’s going to feel oily, but it does sink into your skin beautifully.
Of all of the oils I’m mentioning today, this oil is favorite for babies because it’s unscented, extremely gentle, and very moisturizing. It is not cheap, but I have slathered this oil on Summer from head to toe multiple times a week for five months, and we still have over half a bottle left. I would absolutely re-purchase this product, but I honestly don’t think we will need to for quite a while!

PROS: Heavenly scent, very moisturizing, 100% plant-based, clean and safe ingredients, very soothing
CONS: Scent is very strong, not the greatest packaging, not cheap, more expensive if you’re not a Young Living member
I know I’m repeating myself again, but the scent of the Seedlings line is just so nice. I LOVEEE this oil. I think this baby oil is very moisturizing, very fragrant, and overall a great product. It’s extremely moisturizing and leaves Summer’s skin feeling so soft when she wakes up in the morning! I also love adding a small amount of this oil to Summer’s bath water (and mine too!) for a boost of fragrance and moisture.
One other thing I’ll say is that the packaging isn’t my favorite. It’s functional, but I wish it came in a pump format like the Beautycounter oil. I will definitely repurchase this product again, but we use such a small amount that I don’t anticipate needing to replace it for quite a while. It is not the cheapest baby oil, but you can get a 24% off discount if you become a (get details here).
Natural Diaper Cream for Babies
Young Living Seedlings Diaper Cream (24% off if you’re a – get details here)
PROS: Heavenly scent, very moisturizing, very soothing, creamy texture, a little goes a long way
CONS: Scent doesn’t always mix well with diaper smells, not cheap, more expensive if you’re not a Young Living member
I’m honestly torn about how I feel about this product. On one hand, I LOVE the scent, the creamy texture, and the effectiveness of the formula. We think Summer had a very mild case of Hand, Foot, and Mouth, so she had a bit of a lingering diaper rash on her bottom. This diaper cream really took down the redness and irritation, and I truly believe the lavender oil in this product is awesome for soothing irritations. After using this diaper cream for a month, I can confidently say it works well and a little goes a long way. As much as I love the scent, I think I prefer unscented diaper creams; however, it really is a good product! It’s definitely not cheap, but you can get a 24% off discount if you become a (get details here).
Beautycounter Baby Calming Diaper Rash Cream
PROS: Top-scoring on EWG, clean and safe ingredients, unscented, moisturizing, works well, a little goes a long way, functional packaging
CONS: not cheap
I don’t have a photo of this because we ran out of it months ago, but it was a really good product. It has a thick consistency that’s pretty moisturizing, and it worked well to prevent diaper rash. A little bit goes a long way, and I love the unscented formula. I don’t really have anything to complain about with this diaper cream other than the price. Overall, it’s a fantastic product and I would repurchase it again; however, I found a cheaper product (see below) that I think I like just as much!
You can read my review of this product in the lotions category above, but I honestly LOVE using this solid oil product as a diaper cream. It’s kind of like Aquaphor but all-natural! I will probably ALWAYS keep a tube of this stuff in Summer’s room!
Burt’s Bees Baby Diaper Rash Ointment
PROS: clean and safe ingredients, EWG score of 1, 40% zinc oxide, works well, good packaging, little goes a long way, affordable
CONS: none that I can think of?
UPDATE! OK, guys. I’ve found an AMAZING and all-natural diaper cream that is literally half the cost of the others on this list, and I like it just as much. Oh, and did I mention it’s available with Amazon subscribe and save, so you can get an extra percentage off the price? AND it’s available with prime shipping. YASSS. This stuff works like a charm, and I love the thick consistency. It works really, really well, and I’ve already added it to my Subscribe & Save order from Amazon! P.S. The review are a little mixed on Amazon because they changed the formula somewhere around 2014-2015. If you sort the reviews by date, literally almost all of the 2018 reviews are glowing 5-star reviews!
Natural Linen Spray for Babies
Young Living Seedlings Linen Spray (24% off if you’re a – get details here)
PROS: Heavenly scent, 100% plant-based, clean and safe ingredients, includes the highest-quality essential oils, safe for use in baby nurseries
CONS: Label can tear off when you open the packaging, not cheap
Ok, ok, I know this linen spray isn’t technically a bath product, but I wasn’t sure where else I could mention this product. I love it so much that I just had to share! As I’ve mentioned time and time again, I am ADDICTED to the smell of the Seedlings line. This all-natural linen spray is safe to use on any basically any fabric your baby will come into contact with – bed linens, curtains, clothing, blankets, furniture, swaddles, etc. I love adding a few spritzes of the calming aroma to her crib a few times a week, and I also use this around our home and sometimes on my pillow at night. This product isn’t cheap, but you really don’t need more than one or two spritzes at a time. Because of the small amount we need to use each week, I’m comfortable with the price. You can get a 24% off discount if you become a (get details here).
As I mentioned earlier, we have used these products religiously over the past few months. I know how precious babies are, and I would never recommend a product to you that I didn’t truly believe in and use on my own baby!
Now that you’ve read all about my favorite natural bath products for babies, I’d love to know your recommendations! Which products do you swear by for your little one?
