Last week, I talked you through my step-by-step process for fading out my overgrown highlights, and I'm finally ready to unveil my results! What do you think? Natural ashy blonde base with golden highlights at the bottom? I used Clairol Professional Classic Collection dye in 9N along with 20 volume developer to create thin and subtle lowlights in the lower half of my hair.
I think I definitely accomplished my goal. I faded my roots into my light highlights without making it look streaky or unnatural. I already have plans to repeat the process in a few weeks with the Clairol Professional Classic Collection in 9N, but I'm also tempted to add a few light highlights just around my face with 10N. I can't help it- blonde is a disease!
Not too bad for a first timer! I think the the closeups show how the lowlights actually make my lighter pieces pop even more! I love that it doesn't look like Barbie hair. It's actually looking like my natural tone!
I got fabulous results from the Clairol Professional Classic Collection, and my hair doesn't seem any more damaged at all. In fact, it's been easy to manage all week! In celebration of my fun new subtle ombre hairstyle, I decided I needed to show it off a little bit. Coloring my hair at home saved me over $150, so I may have picked up a few new items with my savings. Here's my outfit inspired by my new hairstyle- fun and girly but still laidback!
Shiny bracelets are never a mistake.
A true Southern lady doesn't leave home without her monogram.
And of course you need some fun (and comfortable) shoes. For shorties like me, I recommend nude pumps. They go with everything, and they elongate your legs!
Gunmetal nails, cream bow purse, and a little bit of sparkle.
I'm dying to know your thoughts on my new hair! It's a subtle change, but I think the lowlights definitely added a little bit of depth for fall and a more gradual fade into my highlights! Now that I've tried the technique at home, I'm getting a lit more confident in my skills. I can't stop thinking about all the fun new colors I want to try for fall and winter!
Have you ever colored your hair at home? Do you normally change your hair with the seasons?
